Bring Back Firefight

Out of all the halo games, I had the most fun with halo reach, and I’ve been playing halo since day one. This was because of firefight. I liked the campaign, I loved the multiplayer, but playing firefight online with my family for hours and hours has been the highlight of my halo experience, and I’ve played an insane amount of halo.

Whoever decided to take this feature out of halo is an ignoramus on a gigantic scale and has no business being on the halo team… Just like the person that decided dual weilding should be removed. Yes I know halo reach had no dual weilding.

Being that 343 removed firefight and added spartan-ops for halo 4, I have to assume that spartan-ops was intended to be a replacement. I sincerely hope that was just a bad joke… Also, I’m confident that it took much more work to create the spartan-ops episodes that nobody even enjoyed than it would have to create a firefight mode.

Hope others feel the same way. Sound off.

Great idea. I hope they bring it back too. It’ll be so much fun with the new features.

I would love to see Firefight return! I also wouldn’t mind seeing Spartans vs. Elites in game modes like Invasion and Generator Defense(was in Reach beta).

Yes please! Spartan ops sucked.

With multiplayer dominating the conversation right now (understandably, BETA) I was remembering the days when I would play reach multiplayer. If my friends and I had a couple bad games we would fall back onto a match of casual firefight and just reset. Then jump right back into multiplayer and dominate after that sort of intermission cooldown.

Thats just one of the many many reasons why it was such an awesome feature. On another note, think of the narrative and how it could help revive this abandoned mode. The elites are split into two different groups now, Jul mdamas covenant and the Arbiter’s ally elites. We could now play as elite characters in firefight battling other elites along with the rest of the remaining covenant.

I could go on…

The new spartan abilities like ground pound and shoulder charge would probably prove to be more enjoyable and frequent in firefight as well.

Reach Firefight and H4 Spartan Ops were indeed a lot of fun and they both had matchmaking online.

Its nice to finally see Spartan Ops in TMCC but it would be even better if we could play with randoms in matchmaking.

Yes! I agree. that was in my opinion the highlight of halo reach. They should bring it back soon, with all of these forums about firefight, they should catch 343i’s eye. (Unless Bonnie Ross or some other developer at 343i has something against firefight, but I do not understand why they would.)

Who knows what goes on in the minds of people who make the decisions to remove features like this. “Idea… lets…remove a feature that adds infinite value to the replayability of the game!” “Genious Johnson! Your up for promotion!”

Frustrating

Wow, now that you mention it. that is what it looks like is going on. But 343i is not doing bad. but they do not get that we want firefight do they?

Firefight was better but it was also cool that Spartan Ops added more story to the game. So if they could somehow incorporate that into firefight it would be awesome.

I agree, Firefight was cool. Just make it a part of the “Spartan Training Program” (in terms of lore) like the multiplayer. Maybe have scores to rack up and leaderboards.

I’d like to see Firefight with the flood. It would be nice if they utilized Firefight to tell more of the Halo story. Maybe Firefight follows a small squad as they clear out different flood invasions throughout Earth and Earth’s orbit.

Spartan Ops is good, but Firefight is AWESOME.
I have an idea that I think 343i should listen
Add Firefight to Forge
For example, when you choose weapons go to: Weapons — Covenant — Storm Rifle
With Firefight added to Forge you could choose:
AI — Prometheans — Knights
AI — UNSC ---- Spartan IV
AI — Covenant — Zealot
Maybe other species like Flood or Brutes. I think create your own wars, even the chance to be an ally of one of those armies would be great

Either way, any return of Firefight will be loved by almost everyone.

I really like both of these ideas. Even though the flood is personally not my favorite enemy type, I think you bring up an amazing idea. In terms of story, firefight mode could be a way to re-live a handful of final stand battles in the halo universe. Doesn’t have to be only humans, it can be covenant as well. Even though I don’t think firefight needs a narrative drive, I think this idea would be the best way to do it.

I like TribunusCarlos6 idea the best. If 343 doesn’t want to take the time to encorporate a firefight mode into the game, at least give us the tools to do it ourselves. Can you imagine the epic battles people could create if this was an option?

When I say that this can sometimes be frustrating, this is what I mean. I like being part of the community and posting in these forums, but why do I have to create a thread to tell the professionals please do not take out a feature of the game that people love and adds replayability and value to the game? It just seems like a complete no brainer.

Scenario: Halo 5 multiplayer is popular for 2 months and then fizzles out just like halo 4. Lobbies are empty, everyone has played campaign on legendary, what now? Good thing halo 5 has firefight, firefight scoring, firefight leaderboards… simple features to make the game relevant for the long haul for all players, especially the casual ones who don’t want to end their night annoyed after getting steamrolled in competitive multiplayer.

I don’t want to assume anything about a game that is still a year away from release, but I think 343 has revealed something not particularly positive in my mind with the halo 5 multiplayer beta. Let me first begin by saying I really really like the beta and I think halo 5 is going to be a great multiplayer game. I was already aware that they were trying to push the game toward E-sports, but I think the thing that they revealed was actually how hard they were pushing, to the point where it actually seems like they are trying too hard. I feel this way because:
-Corny spartan chatter during matches
-Corny pre/post game spartan bro-outs
-Over talkative announcer
-Spartans using multiplayer halo culture terms like “snipes” and “nades”

Now to make my point and get back on topic. I hope the rest of halo 5 does not take a back seat to this desperate push by 343 to harness what they think halo culture is and what they think would make halo fans happy. Maybe 7 year old halo fans… Halo cuture is not supposed to attract “bros” and “frat boys”.

Yes Plz, bring back FF (keep SpartanOps too).

Thanks XArcanumOrderX
Yeah I have thinking about this idea for a long time, it would be epic. I could explain more If you let me.
With Firefight Forge you could choose armies and make your ally or you enemie.
Armies: UNSC - Storm Covenant - Flood - Prometheans - Arbiter’s Faction
So you choose AI
UNSC ----- Spartan II/Spartan III/ Spartan IV/ Marines/ ODST
Storm Covenant----- Elite (and ranks)/ Jackals/ Skirmisher/ Grunts/Hunters/ Drones/ Brutes (?)
Prometheans----- Knights/Crawlers/ Watchers/ New Forms
<div>Flood----Original form/ Human Flood/ Elite Flood/ Brute Flood/ Hunter Flood/ New forms</div><div>Arbiter’s Faction----- Elites/More?
Also you can choose the type of group. If you go to:
AI----Storm Covenant----Elites----Assault Team----10
There will appear 10 Elites with an Energy Sword and you could make your army and your enemies in order to play Firefight.

Amen, you have aaaall the reason…specially in " Scenario"…

We are on the same page Tribunus.

Lets keep in mind that right now our objective here is to show 343 that the feature is important to us. If we can show that the feature is important to enough people they will hopefully read and take the thread seriously. We have to get the feature back first, then we can talk about what we would like it to become. Otherwise we are just expressing our minds eye with a keyboard.

At this point I think 343 would take note from comments about how the feature adds value to the game the most. We all know that these facts should be obvious to the studio, however they may see the feature right now as something not worth the man hours to implement (although I don’t know how hard it could be to throw waves of AI enemies into a play space).

If we really want the feature we need to convince them that it is worth the time. Keep posting good stuff to keep the thread at the top so that others who want the feature will see it and want to throw a comment in as well.
