I am a big fan of firefight since ODST. But i don’t like arcade as much. I don’t see the fun in having unlimited lives and ammo. I liked the challenge of limited.
My hope was that they would add another set to limited and make it even more challenging. But they got rid of it
They are almost 30 different playlists out now. I know its hard to please everyone. But i think firefight limited deserves to be standard. (population was low, yes, but other playlists that are still there now are lower)
Please support or feel free to disagree. Thanks
I think 343 ought to consider at least adding FF Limited as a gametype variant in the voting options, if they don’t already have it there. (I don’t play a lot of firefight, but I don’t think I ever see it as an option.)
I support bringing FF Limited back but this was an arguent that was already had. Some people feel that Limited needs to be more challenging. I’m of the opinion that no one wants to get on to merely have their -Yoink- handed to them by a bunch of little -Yoink- Grunts. The more “Halo” experience is being far more powerful than any of the enemies that are on the board individually. This is amply demonstrated by the huge amount of damage you can withstand while playing Anniversary. (I went back and checked the play feel with my origianl Halo disc and Anniversary plays exactly the same.) I advocate creating a Limited experience that has easch Spartan as being more powerful than all but the Elite Field Marshals and Brute War Chieftains. This does several things. First, you don’t necessarily have to have teamwork. B/c anyone who has ever played FF anywhere ever can tell you that not everyone is a team player so it doesn’t make sense to create a gametype that absolutely relies on only being able to succeed if every single person IS a team player. Next, it takes away the incentive to waste lives. I had several games where if some D-bag didn’t like the map choice he’d kill himself until all of the extra lives were wasted, b/c quitting wouldn’t net him the game complete bonus, and he assumed myself and others would go down quickly. With more powerful Spartans, if some D-bag doesn’t like the map choice, he could conceiveably sit through entire rounds waiting to respawn, instead of a couple of lucky shots from Covies ending the match after he wasted all the lives jumping to his death. I have had this happen to me several times in the old FF Limited list and one was strong reason why I didn’t play the list often. Third, there are only two maps that I found were “survivable” in the old Limited list: Beachhead and Outpost. BOth have easily defendable bases, with stairways giving you the high-ground and choke ooints, where a couple of grenades can clear out enemies in a pinch. Every other map is murder from multiple directions with no real way to direct the flow of battle, or give you an area you can retreat to to give your shields a moment to recharge. FOr a surviva play mode, first Bungie and now 343 has given very little thought to how a good battle would be managed when enemies spawn from every direction, when initlly the Spartans are so damn weak to begin with. Lastly, no one likes being weak. Let’s face it the Spartans in Reach are weak. They only have two-thirds the shields and health of MC and they are slow as molasses. Did anyone ever time the Nobles in sprint mode? It’s funny. Usain Bolt is faster than our biomechanically modified “super-soldiers” plus Six can’t sprint more than 40 yards! He can’t even run the 100m dash! I’m sorry but that just seems silly. (Check it out. Get a waypoint. When you get to 40m, sprint and you end right about the time you get to the waypoint.)
In summation, the way to go certainly is NOT to make a more challengeing playlist that drives 100 of the last 200 people playing the list away, but to make the play mode more playable by increasing the spartan stats so they can actually deal with a few enemies all by their lonesome. (Note: I do not want offensive weapon power increases, just increased shields and health and increased movement.) That will bring back those like myself who enjoy the mode a bit but think that its overly challenging if you get D-bag teammates, and might even encourage some casual gamers to try the playlist out. The only things that should not change is the Limited lives aspect. That is the definition of FF Limited.
Well they got rid of it due to not enough people, But I don’t see why they couldn’t just make it a gametype that pops up in Score Attack, or normal FireFight matchmaking.
Get rid of firefight doubles and replace it with firefight limited. Rename “Firefight limited” just make it “Firefight”
