I believe one of the things that made Halo 3 popular was the Double XP weekends and playlists (combined with a true ranking system). It gave incentive to play and it was also great being able to play things like Grifball, Living Dead, etc. Having gametypes like those available all the time takes the magic and fun out of them. I remember being so hyped to finally play Zombies or Grifball again after waiting for a long time. Now the gametypes are boring because they’re no longer special.
Thoughts?
I agree. The playlists would be there, but only in 3 of 7 days in a week, so they wouldn’t be gone for too long. If anything, the wait would enhance the fun that those playlists create. We could have Action Sack as our standard, crazy-gametype playlist with Living Dead/Flood and Griffbal (and hopefully a third option, whenever the Community comes up with something truly great) as weekend only playlists.
As for double XP, I don’t think that would work well in a progression system. Maybe we could make it an “Extra Credit Weekend” where you just get a small but meaningful bonus for each game (for reference, 500 XP in Halo 4) which would be especially good on the long term.
Seriously, why was there no double xp weekends for Reach and Halo 4. In the same way that it was a constant weekly thing for Halo 3. I knew lots of people who played on weekend for it.
Im not saying Halo will rely on it but really, why not do it?
Double xp happens every thursday
> Double xp happens every thursday
I must be missing the joke.

I remember in october when Halo 3 was still popular they had ranked living dead. Soooo much fun!! Now it’s not special anymore.
I’d love for Double XP weekends to return.
It was a fun way to rank up and experience some nice gametypes.
