Bring back Componies for Halo Infinite and MCC

Halo 5 had componies you can join, it was a good idea but it was removed in the update to waypoint a while ago. I would like to see these to come back in the MCC and Infinte

While community groups are a good idea, the way “companies” were implemented in Halo 5 was really a terrible system.

It prioritized company hopping, leeching and exclusion all centered around Achilles. And once the population died out and/or Achilles was acquired by the majority of players who grinded the XP out, companies ultimately died out as a whole.

There are probably some companies that ended up taking off and accomplishing some quality community camaraderie, but the solid majority of them were simply randoms latching into whatever group would allow them in just to leech their way to the armor prize at the top.

Ideally “companies” would grant perks, but not make the perks the focus of the community system.

I’m interested in hearing more about your experience and feedback for this. I am actually developing a Spartan Company like-system called Units over on my own forums. While I already soft launched and invited some groups to participate in it, its still very much a barebones group management tool.

I intended on using Unofficial Halo API to recreate a new version of Spartan Companies introducing more features like “clan rank” using the combination of Halo stats and Xbox gamerscore. With inspiration from Bungie.net’s current Destiny 2 clans.

In addition to this, reverse engineering API for custom challenges that award website credits/exp to users and groups overall as Bungie.net had as an option in Halo: Reach for a short time. This would be user created but may also expand to add objectives for groups/clans altogether or a “Vidmasters challenge” using a recordable data point.

Also, updating and maintaining a Clan matchmaking system, we can see and match clans equally with set rosters for fun scrims and even playing field barring big clans from overwhelming and bullying small clans with stacked rosters.

With all this data coming straight from the game we may also launch tournaments around Kill targets similar to Achilles adding all players accumulated kills on Halo Infinite from a single group and more, the potential is endless with the API and so long as we can code some default things with accessible datapoints it’ll be a success as a platform.

For both OP, and yourself I recommend checking it out. https://semper-vigilans.org Sharing feedback over there but I don’t discount Halo Infinite completely abandoning Spartan Companies, there may be some game update in Year 3 or beyond if they are serious about the 10 year game Infinite is going to be.
