It feels like 343 are insistent on adding their own designs to the franchise. dont get me wrong, some of them are good (hyrdra launcher, railgun) but taking some of the most iconic weapons: the MAGNUM and the SHOTGUN, and replacing them with such mediocre designs like something straight from call of duty. After the backlash they recieved from the halo 5 rocket launcher, i feel this is an insult to the community. These new designs look so generic and out of place in a game set 500 years in the future. Please tell me you agree.
Nope, I think the Sidekick and Bulldog look pretty cool. Y’all can be insulted by their presence, but it’s a silly thing to feel insulted about.

I totally agree dude. The sidekick is a fresh new Magnum. It looks pretty cool tbh. The bulldog not so much but still, I’m with you bro

And also, who says we won’t see the Classic Designs in the game? It was just a DEMO for crying outloud. You people need to get that.
Design preference is subjective, whether you like it or not is totally based on the persons preference (I personally enjoiy the bulldog design over Halo 4’s or 5’s shotgun.) But you have to admit that the new sidekick design that was introduced looked quite similar to other triple AAA FPS games and generic. For some people, that’s quite off-putting and immersion breaking in the Halo universe. Yes, you could counter argue that the sidekick is similar to Halo 2’s magnum design but why would 343 abandon an already unique gun design that’s unfamiliar to the FPS genre to something more generic? Halo 2 Magnum nostalgia? Why did Bungie not bring back the Halo Magnum 2 design from Halo 2 in Halo 3 and reach?

Yes it is a demo, but you should recognize that demo was close to the release date before the delay was announced. It was also mentioned that the classic magnum and shotgun (Design wise not mechanically because to be honest the mechanics have fluctuated through out the Halo franchise) will not be at launch before the delay was announced.

The sidekick is not a magnum.
The sidekick is an awful design, totally unbecoming of the futuristic feel of Halo. Worst handgun design ever in a Halo title. Maybe the gun can be upgrade to look like the classic pistol, which is possible, so we will have to wait until future reveals. As it stands now that handgun looks too realistic like something that could be in the modern world.

I suppose I’m wrong then. That wasn’t my point though. I like the design and role of the Sidekick
I despise the bulldog as it is just a noob friendly shotgun that has no drawbacks as reloading only takes a mere second with the drum mag, it even has extra range!
Eh I care less about having classic designs and more about having designs that are unique and interesting in both form and function.
I don’t need the classic Magnum to return, I just don’t want the sidekick to look like such a generic piece of garbage.
I like the Bulldog from a visual perspective, I just wish it was semi-auto so it could step out of the OG shotguns shadow. Also I would argue the Bulldog is vastly superior to the monstrosity that was the Halo 4 and 5 shotgun.
It mostly just feels like 343 hasn’t learned anything from the Halo 5 rocket launcher fiasco. I don’t think the Halo 5 rocket launcher was a bad design(unlike the Sidekick), but it was a bad Halo rocket launcher design if you catch my meaning. Halo 5 rockets are such a drastic visual departure from OG rockets, but they perform almost the exact same way as Halo rockets always have. So why bother changing the design to such a degree? If Halo 5 rockets were a completely separate weapons from regular rockets ala the Hydra or Railgun I don’t think it would have gotten nearly as much hate as it did.

The reload animation is going suck all the tension and fun out of infection matches.

I pretty much agree with you entirely. The Sidekick looks super hefty, as well. Poor Marines are gonna need 3 hands to lift that badboy. If they add a IWHBYD line or two when you give them the gun of them just grunting as they receive it… all good. I’ll allow that.

I actually like the new shotgun, but why don’t they make it look kinda like the other halo shotguns? The most iconic pieces of the shotgun are the colored iron sights on top and the grip of the shotgun which has the lines on it (H2A did great on that look).

The new shotgun reminds me of the Saw. I wasn’t a fan of the Saw’s design upon launch, but I quickly came to enjoy using it. Hopefully this happens again.

My major negative aside from the design with the new shotgun is that you can not reload the new shotgun one shell at a time like previous versions. It has a barrel reload similar to the Saw. The new shotgun will not be nearly as fun or unique.

**[Non-issue detected, activating “who cares” routine]**The Magnum and Shotgun have changed consistently throughout the games, what is the issue. That its not the same damn thing for the past 10 years?
The Halo 2 Magnum was fun and all you guys want is CE Magnum which is OP crap that isnt enjoyable to try and counter. This Magnum actually looks powerful and fun to quickfire. The new shotgun confused me at first but its about time we saw a distinct change in what the shotgun looked like. The past 7 iterations all look and basically act the same.
Anyway all that aside did you guys seriously think you were going to have your every wish granted? You all seriously expected the entire classic weapon would return and that nothing would change? That’s absurd.
All things must change, please try be optimistic for once in your lives

Nothing says unfun like having convenient reloads… that is the worst criticism ever, of all time.
I think the railgun was a great addition, better than the concussion rifle or brute shot in my opinion. The shotgun was not the greatest and the magnum looks similar to the one in Halo 2. I personally don’t like the design but it is very fitting if the role of the sidekick is to be a sidearm unlike Halo 5.

Believe you misinterpret what he was trying to say, he’s more on arguing about the design rather than the mechanics of the weapon. Sure, you could argue that the design was not consistent through out the franchise; But overall, they still had the same resemblance. M6 Series | Halo Alpha | Fandom
KingyBRFC isn’t expecting to get the entire classic weapon sandbox without any changes, he just wants the designs to look less generic. https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/i1gnji/top_fiveseven_from_call_of_duty_black_ops_two/
I don’t personally mind the new shotgun or pistol design, though the pistol, I’ll agree is not very halo like but it is a good design. Mostly I don’t really care what the gun looks like as long as it’s fun to use. The new shotgun being magazine fed and semi auto could add some new skills to learn to the game, even though it’s been called a “noob friend”, I think that the farther range and faster reload could lead to some very interesting and fun time, also people seem to forget halo 5’s shotgun had a farther range then other shotguns as well. As mentioned above this design of the shotgun is much better then the 4/5 shotgun design, the 4/5 shotguns were not very nice looking, the new shotgun is much better the then these.
