Do you think they should add classic maps let me know.
i really miss guardians and the pit. so yes i think this would be a great idea
Last time I played MCC I got to play some BTB matches on Halo CE and Halo 3 maps and I had a blast playing! So yes some maps could make a come back maybe as reamakes by forge or something?
There are classic maps in H5 already. We have the anniversary throwback maps in super fiesta and some of the btb maps in BTB as well.

True. Never hurts thou to have more maps to play And there’s still good classics!
A halo 3 map playlist would be nice to mark the anniversary if we’re only getting BC
The “H3 Anniversary” Classic playlist is coming up… we’ll at least get some H3 remakes in the near future.

Do we know when the playlist is coming out, was worried i had missed it!
Considering that H3 launched in late September of 07, I’d imagine that it’ll be out around late September.

That’s just the hunger for content amongst a starving community man lol… H5 needs better support.

We got free maps monthly, except for two months, for the woke first year of its cycle. That’s pretty good support.
I still want more though!
I hope so. I can’t play mercy and white cell anymore.
Classic maps may not play well with Halo 5’s movement mechanics and most likely won’t offer the same experience you remember, even if altered to accommodate these changes, because Halo 5 is a different beast. Look at some of the BTB maps. That doesn’t mean they can’t still be good, though.
I hope the H3 playlist is an honest attempt by 343 to create a “classic” style of play, and not just remove abilities and tweak the movement; there’s a lot more to it than that.
Halo 5, minus a bunch of stuff, does not equal Halo 3.

Well yeah, it sounds great on a surface level… but a lot of the content has no cross-benefit. It’s “value-inefficient” content.
If people don’t like playing WZ, what GOOD is even any of that content for them? It’s not like you can get a large scale map like you could in H2 or H3, that could semi-effectively support 4v4/Arena game modes. It’s strictly limited to WZ… and it’s way too big to support anything other than WZ anyway. What was stopping 343 from making BTB maps that just supported WZ in addition? Maybe these maps could’ve doubled over and supported 4v4 Slayer, if designed properly, or Snipers at the very least? Think Valhalla on H3… it supported 4v4 ranked TS.
No matter how you liked to play Halo, there was always a use for the content that was created… and it was designed accordingly to accommodate a large number of game modes and ways to play the game. Everyone was able to find value in the content. Now everything is so split, and specialized, and the content within the separate modes is lacking in creativity and ends up being rehashed from launch content… it’s just not an effective way to structure the development. Despite there being large amounts of content in H5, I rarely play WZ and greatly prefer more traditional Halo gametypes. But because of the splitting of these MP experiences and content pools, it’s like everyone gets a dumbed down, lacking experience no matter the mode you play.
Not saying there isn’t some good stuff in Arena, or WZ, or wherever you choose to spend your time with H5, but you can see the recycling everywhere in efforts to minimize the damaging effects of splitting resources and efforts into producing specialized modes, and microtransaction systems… there’s too much going on with H5. It’s not streamlined. It isn’t modular. And we’re still lacking classic gametypes, map rotations haven’t been adjusted for months, Forge content for Arena is being withheld (which we know due to the GITS maps and “classic” maps being rotated in and out… also game modes like Oddball and Assault isn’t really utilized in a traditional manner).
When you say it like “ohh yeah, but we had all of these free updates.” Yeah, free updates are great… but what did they actually contain? How does the ENTIRE player-base benefit from the added content? With the splitting of content in the way that H5 does… where the community is already divided enough as it is, half of the content that H5 offers isn’t even on a lot of the community’s radar, because they don’t like the mode it pertains to… and 343 in turn, spent a lot of money on producing content that, at the very least, a considerable number of players within the community hardly even play and enjoy… that’s a costly mistake. You should want your content to be multi-faceted where anyone can find uses for it and enjoy it… Not only does it bring about a variety of experiences, but styles of map layouts, sizes, shapes, etc.
There are just so many ways H5 could’ve been executed better… and could be sustained in a better fashion…

That’s unfortunate for you. I rotate between warzone, warzone assault, ffa, swat, big team, and ranked/social slayer. There’s an overwhelming amount of content for me >.<
So from my perspective, I respectfully disagree, and I have had more maps and game variety than I’ve ever had in a halo game before. They only thing I miss is KotH, but strongholds is a pretty good sub. Not perfect, but pretty good

Right, but let me ask you this… would you see any benefit, or issue with Warzone being played on dev-BTB maps, if they had chosen to go that route?
I mean, look at the community outcry for dev-made BTB maps… Warzone never HAD to be formatted the way it was, as an entire sub-component of the game. It could’ve been just another gametype, of the list of Halo’s many gametypes… like how Invasion was played on Reach BTB maps, just as an example… Far more segments of the community would have access to yes, the same content, but it would’ve been developed for multiple purposes and to support most/all game modes. It’s great that you enjoy every aspect of H5, but the truth is, a lot of people do not… Warzone and REQ’s, just themselves, were divisive design decisions within the Halo community. And a more traditional implementation, where BTB maps were used, where REQ stations maybe had Forge-piece integration… chances are, you and (everyone else that enjoys WZ) wouldn’t have had any problem with that. It would’ve remained consistent with old Halo design honestly… same philosophy.
It’s about design intent… and I mean, not a whole lot of maps really offer tremendously different experiences, relative to each other. You have a few maps with these little jump pad/lifts, but nothing crazy really… no traditional/built-in to the environment type of lifts or movement options, a few really good competitive maps, but the ones that aren’t? There could’ve been some cool uses for teleporters, or grav lifts or man-cannons to add some dynamics to the combat… where the maps offer different experiences. A vehicle here or there… Not every map needs to be designed for 4v4 pure, on-foot competitive gameplay… and I PREFER that style of play, the competitive style.
It’s just you look at H5, and you look at the older Halo games… it’s another change in formula that wasn’t warranted. Why are they trying to reinvent the wheel, when there’s value-minded concepts and design theory in place to produce a top AAA game? Do things the Halo way, ya know? That’s the way I see it…
How convenient, I just release my Lockout map today! With Halo 5 settings it is recommended you keep it 2v2, if you are using classic settings then it supports up to 4v4.
I think it would be fun if they added maps from halo 3 and 4, as a DLC or something like that. at the same time have some of those maps for the Warzone.
Of course! This really needs to happen. Some of these Halo 5 maps are so -Yoink-.
