Bring Back a Johnson Plz.

We need a badass who has awesome lines and speeches. We have nobody who does the tear-jerking selling during cinematic launch trailers anymore.

While I wouldn’t mind a new character coming in as the new “badass” soldier with the awesome one liners, Johnson is dead, like, super dead. He went out in the middle of a Halo exploding. I’m sure they can have some excuse for a new Johnson to be cloned, or that he had a son that is exactly like a young Johnson, but those are more cop-out moves and would be more of an insult to meaning behind Johnson’s death

There was no meaning behind Johnson’s death though. Bungie just killed him because they were done with the series and wanted it to have an impact. “Chief’s adrift in space… all the awesome characters are dead… no more Halos.”

The title said ‘A Johnson’ and being super-dead never stopped Bungie from using space magic to revive you after ‘you’ve been dead a long time, and will see a lot of things you won’t understand’.

Cloning a Johnson for the purpose of studying his archived immunity to flood infection would make sense and he was capable of enhanced regeneration to the point of surviving a headshot at close range, and then regenerating like Wolverine to revive… he’d probably have a bunch of frozen DNA somewhere in cryostorage anyway. Since he’s a Spartan I after all.

EDIT: For all we know, Johnson could’ve been replaced with a flash clone by ONI before he went on his suicide mission.

Let me break down why none of that makes sense.

  • Johnson’s death not having much meaning is irrelevant.
  • There was no magical space magic under Bungie that revived dead characters. Johnson was never confirmed dead in Combat Evolved and it was explained how he got off the Halo in First Strike and the Halo Graphic Novel.
  • Johnson’s immunity isn’t known by ONI. Chief was given two data crystals by Halsey, one that had files on Johnson’s immunity and one that did not. However, Chief crushed the crystal with the info on Johnson to spare his life. So there would be no reason to have his DNA on hand nor would they have to make a Johnson clone to analyze his immunity.
  • Johnson was not replaced by a flash clone, flash clones don’t work that way. Sorry, but that has to be one of the silliest grasping at straws idea I’ve seen. How would a flash clone have Johnson’s experiences and training and immediately be able to get into combat? Let’s be reasonable here, shall we?

As much as I loved Johnson, dead characters need t stay dead. I mean, the guy was at least 80 years old when he died. He spent his entire life fighting, why can’t he finally rest in peace?

I don’t think this’ll happen. Halo wasn’t as serious and dark as it is now.

I definetly miss johnson, he was a complete badass. Sadly though he cannot just be brought back;, that being said, I think we do need someone to replace him.

Halo was always pretty dark. In the first game your exposed to one of the last bastions of Earth’s defenses. Humans were being exterminated by the Covenant, with not many victories for the UNSC. Then the parasite is released, Covenant fractures into civil war, you know the rest. As for Johnson, as cool as he was He is dead and gone, Cortana too, shes dead. Stop asking for them back, DecepticonCobra is correct on the cannon and lore.

At this point, another stereotypical R. Lee Ermey type character would feel too cliché to me.

Sadly, Johnson isn’t coming back. He was a favorite, too. Unlike, say, Cortana, where there are all kinds of potential loopholes that could let her return, Johnson is dead. Human dead. He’s not coming back.

You’ve seen Halo 3’s Legendary ending right? Requiem is in it. There was never a “no more Halos”. They had the beginning of Halo 4’s story right there in Halo 3.

Get with it, son.

Also, we don’t even really know Locke’s character yet. He could be the Johnson replacement we always wanted (since Palmer didn’t seem to work out) and, like Johnson in ODST, he’s playable.

You’re right about it always being dark. I’m not sure why people keep saying it’s gotten darker. One of my first impressions of the game was seeing two unarmed crew members on the Autumn get gunned down by laughing Grunts. Plus, punching through the skull of Captain Keyes was pretty gruesome.

Sgt johnson doesnt want to rest in peace he wants to kick inhuman butt and say epic lines full of swears while doing it

This is everyone:

JOHNSON IS DEAD

This is OP:

BRING BACK “A” Johnson

I don’t know what the confusion is but the lack of a period to indicate an initial is intentional as ‘A’ Johnson refers to a relative or a major supporting character that is like him. To suggest I am grasping at straws is nothing more than an outrageous insinuation not to be taken seriously.

PS
If ONI can hide the Infinity, they can hide the method to create a perfect clone, defying all logic… just like they did with Cortana’s death/stasis.

I loved Johnson, but he’s a character that died. I can’t think of anything that would ‘revive’ him that wouldn’t sound silly and I feel trying to replace him with other characters has really no point. We remember him for what he was, a bad–Yoink-, Sweet William cigar smokin’ marine, and a friend of John. And we go on seeing new characters with their own personalities as this universe expands.

Show us his son. We know he had one.

I don’t think anyone would say that they don’t want a character who has the characteristics of a Johnson, but that isn’t easy to pull off. You can’t just have a trash talking tough guy and expect the community to latch on to them. I’m sure that was the intent with Palmer and it failed. Having a new Johnson is easier said than done. You’re PS is unfounded because it is based on no evidence whatsoever and defys logic itself, nor did ONI hide Cortana’s death. That happened and 343 said as much. Don’t mislead the community, please.

> Show us his son. We know he had one.

Actually, nothing has ever been said for him to have a son. He might have one, but we do not know he has one. Put up the evidence or refrain from misleading the community.
