Bring Back 60 Bullet Mags For The AR

One thing in particular that I disliked from Halo 3, ODST, and Reach was the inclusion of 32 bullet mags for the Assault Rifle. In Halo Combat Evolved, it just felt so much funner to spray 60 bullets into your enemies. It didn’t feel underpowered nor too powerful. It was the perfect balance. You could easily mow down squads of grunts and take out an Elite with an entire mag.

Plus who doesn’t miss shooting an Elite’s corpse to paint its purple blood all over surfaces? The Assault Rifle in past games have felt somewhat underpowered compared to the original and i’d like to see an appropriate return of the original rifle. Maybe not in Halo 4, but in the future it would be nice.

Take a look at the SAW.

> Take a look at the SAW.

The SAW’s got more ammo and is more of a heavy weapon than anything.

I just want to see the original make a return in the future.

The Assault Rifle in Halo 4 will only have a 32-round magazine. However, there is a new weapon called the SAW. It will be an ordinance weapon, but it will have a 72-round magazine, and fire much faster than the CE Assault Rifle.

Protip: The SMG is the Halo: CE AR in disguise, although it won’t be in Halo 4.

The SAW is just a 72-round AR.

Like everyone else has stated, there’s the SAW.
As for resetting the AR back to 60 rounds, don’t you think it’s a little late for them to set it back to 60 rounds? The game is due to go gold here in a few days, which means all major game play changes has to be done and tested by then. And in order to add the 60 round AR back into the game, they got to rebalance the WHOLE sand box.

The Assault Rifle from Halo CE is a different model from the ones in Halo 3,ODST, and Reach.

I’m mostly referring to the future

I know something that could satisfy you. Maybe, if 343i decides to make the trilogy games every other year (which they surely will), then maybe they could make a small project, maybe in between 5 and 6, about the battles of Harvest. Or better yet, have 343i or maybe Ensemble Studios (makers of Halo Wars) make an FPS similar to the story line of Halo Wars. Heh? Heh?

Is Ensemble Studios still running?

Halo Wars was their last game before they were shut down I think.

I don’t care if it’s a 32 round mag or a 60 round mag, as long as I can keep it in a loadout with a pistol and be confident in using it as my main loadout.

Huh… Well, maybe 343i could work on something like it as a side project in between 5 and 6 or something. Or maybe after the trilogy is over.

Don’t know about much faster than CE’s but definitely a bit.
AND there is a Storm Rifle that fires probably as fast as the CEAR, has a bloom that mimics a similar spread pattern to the CEAR, will last as long as the CEAR in ammo supply if pulsed, but admittedly won’t have the same mag. depth if the trigger is held for a long time because plasma weapons will overheat.

People seem to think having a powerful AR will bring back the CE’s AR feel. It doesn’t. The CE AR was unique. A perfect blend of sound, lighting, effect, and function.

Nonetheless, I just want to kill multiple Grunts with 1 AR clip instead of putting in half a clip to kill a Grunt.

> Take a look at the SAW.

The problem is that the SAW has taken the role of the AR.

I say, give back the old king!

Halo CE’s AR sounded like a full auto air stapler. :expressionless:

^^ Agreed. Sounds like “nostalgia”…because the original AR sounded like -Yoink-.

The Halo CE AR sounded perfect for the time, I don’t get why people make these dumb metaphors whenever the sound if a bit off.
“AR sounds like full auto Stapler”
“AR sounds like toy gun”
“Shotgun sounds like a fart” What the -Yoink- is this?
