i dont want it to be visible and i dont want it to be necessary to rank up through the ranks but how another member of the forums said(dont know who it was but thank you for summarizing it):
In halo 3 having that 1-50 acted as means of trying to improve myself in the game. That worked as an incentive for me. Im not sure about other players but I am guessing it had a similar effect. A progression system like reach gave no incentive to really improve it sowed how much time you spent playing the game. Do other players need to see your true skill? No. But it would be nice to see your rank yourself.
now i dont see a negative point in this,if you need the number you’ll be happy about it,if you were against 1-50 all the time you dont have to care about that number
i think 343 just didnt get that the 1-50 system was fun for a lot of people
if there would be a 1-50 rank in every ranked playlist i would definitely play the s*** out of halo 4,its fun and people would play it much longer and it doesnt even have to be visible so boosting and cheating wont increase
The 1-50 system was obviously liked by a good many people for obvious reason. The OP is just stating his opinion on the mater and his want to get it back.
The OP isn’t even being a jerk about it, unlike so many other people. He even states that it doesn’t even have to be visible, an obvious trade-off he’s willing to make. Now, that sounds like to me an individual down-to-earth and reasonable. Now, we all know that the 1-50 system won’t be returning, but how about showing a little respect for people’s opinions, especially when they’re expressed in such a reasonable manner?

Sorry, I know the OP isn’t being a jerk. I’m just a little frustrated that these threads continue to pop up when we all know it won’t come back, especially since the game has been gold for quite a while now. If it does come back in a patch, or heck if it’s even invisible to us in the launch build of Halo 4 then good, it will help matchmaking.
The ranking system of old will likely not be back. At least, not at launch. Though any ranking system they implement, assuming they did so later on, likely wouldn’t be the same as the 1-50 we knew in H2-H3. Different variables would likely come into play.
People like you sicken me. What the hell is your problem really, if some people enjoy the 1-50 system just like myself and others then so be it. He brought up a reasonable concern and you go and bash him. You don’t see competitive players bashing on people posting “Anc1ient 3vilS OmG, its P0ssibly DidaCt or LE crying threads”. How about you show some respect or other wise don’t say anything at all.

Thank you sir for being the only reasonable person to have posted something as of yet.

Why should it be a concern if it’s not there? I’m not bashing the addition of a ranking system by any means, I’m just sickened that people like you continue to cry about how it might not be in the game when nothing has been confirmed nor denied, although I think it probably won’t be there. People can be obsessed with skill because it helps them improve, but the overall goal of playing any video game should be to have fun. For me, I like to have fun while I improve, not constantly checking to see if my skill number went up and rage if it goes down.
The purchase of Halo 4 should not be judged by whether the game has a 1-50 skill rank, that’s just pathetic.

Somehow people find that number fun though…“fun is subjective” they say. 8/
I see people all the time talking about how “LE is not fair” because certains armours are not actually limited. That does not mean I’m going to go in the thread and say, “It sickens me that you guys can’t enjoy the game because you won’t have a certain barbie doll helmet, I feel sorry for you”. Everyone has their own passion for something related to Halo whether it be a virtual number and or helmet. Have some decency would you.
I can honestly keep going on with this argument but I’m going to hope that you understand now.

Yeah, seriously.
We’re not asking for all Armour mods to be taken out because we don’t care about them.
Why do people who don’t care about rank want it to not be included? That would result on the “other half” being disappointed. It’s selfish.

Who said they can’t adapt to not having a ranking system? People interpret fun in different ways and you still don’t understand that do you? You may enjoy just playing the game and thats great. Some people enjoy a ranking system in order to play some competitive matches. There are also people who have fun collecting all the armour in the game. In the end of the day, who are you to tell one group of people how to have fun in a video game?

Apparently you think that I play for a dumb helmet when I don’t, I play Halo because it’s a good game no matter what ranking system it has. Who cares what I get rewarded with because in real life that won’t matter. I play games for pure fun, nothing more.

So, the way you play is the way everybody should play? What you like is what everybody should like?
Every heterosexual better watch out. If this guy’s fantasy world of everybody having the exact same interests becomes reality, they’d never be able to find a significant other.

I was using the armour unlocks as an example if you didn’t realize.
So why don’t you bash forge players too because apparently their creations won’t matter in real life? What about people who like to get commendations, that won’t help them in real life either? God forbid someone on a video game cares for a pixel number beside his name because it won’t help him in real life either.
You still don’t understand that people interpret fun in different ways …
