Greetings Spartans,
I’ll keep this short and simple, the “Aim-Down-Sight” function in Halo Infinite needs to include the same functionality that previous Halo titles had (e.g. Halo 3) where, both on controller and M/KB, you simultaneously had the ability to HOLD the “zoom” button OR CLICK the “zoom” button to either quick scope or hard scope respectively.
This would be a HUGE yet subtle change to how gunplay feels and would be in-line with previous Halo titles.
Thank you for reading!
this is a setting you enable. In the settings make sure Hold to zoom is enabled if you want to have to hold the zoom button to stay zoomed in. If you only want to press it, turn this setting odd.
I honestly dont remember what you describing as ever existing giving they cant functionally exist at the same time. Those would be commands that would interfere with one another. I could be completely wrong there but I honestly have never played a Halo game where you could toggle zoom or hold to zoom at the same time (then again, I havent played on the 360 in over a decade so)

It did exist in previous games, it’s awesome too. I don’t always want to have to cycle through each zoom level every time I use the scope, with the original system, you hold the rmb and it returns your ads when you let go. Click the rmb and you can cycle through the zoom levels and not have to hold the button. Different techniques that are useful in different scenarios.

Love using it on the Sniper in Halo 3. Definitely a feature I would like to see returned.

It existed starting in Halo 2. If you clicked the zoom button you would stay zoomed in, and then double click to fully zoom on weapons like the Sniper. But if you held the button down it would unscope when you released.
This did make sniping a little bit awkward though… If you clicked to 5x zoom, and then held the button when you went to 10x, it would revert to 5x when you released instead of unscoping altogether which was just about as useless as holding down the right stick while trying to aim it was in the first place xD.
In MCC where you can bind zoom to LT, the hold zoom feature is a lot more useful than it was when they first added it to H2.
