Bring 120hz for series s back

I hope 343 brings 120hz/fps performance mode back for final release to series s

I hope so, its awesome to play at 120 even at 720p

343 should be doing as much as possible to make halo a consistent experience for every player, just as the original games were.

They were clearly willing to omit performance modes that they weren’t pleased with, like in the first flight where xbonex didn’t have the 60fps mode yet in the first flight. I would be shocked if it doesn’t release without a 120fps multiplayer mode.

guys i think is not coming back, the description on the official web says “*Up to 120FPS and 4K Ultra HD available on Xbox Series X consoles and compatible PCs only across supported maps and modes; compatible TV or monitor required.”

People who buy budget consoles should set proper expectations.

I cannot stand the trend of game devs being held back by inferior hardware and crippling those of us who have better hardware. I get that Series S is next gen, but it’s hardly considered a powerful console.

yes but they could easily just give Series S users option between a ‘performance’ mode and a high fidelity mode, so performance would be 120fps at 720p and high fidelity would be 1080p or whatever at 60fps. This may not be consistently possible across every mode (certain sections of campaign for example) but I don’t think its crazy to give console users some options.

The Series S is only $300 brand new. If you honestly expect to be able to get 120fps, even at 720p, you are dreaming lol.

The Series X basically has a 3700x and a 3060 in it. That’s the only reason you can get 120fps in the first place (and not even at maximum graphics).

Halo infinite is a AAA game coming out at the very end of 2021. This is no way anyone should ever expect 120fps in that game with a 300$ machine lol.

I ageed with you in general, i didn’t expect series S running every game as well as series X at a lower resolution, that’s unreal. But with Infinite there are some things that allow us (in my opinion) to request this mode.

  1. Xbox said xbox series s will be capable of do the same than series X at a lower resolution, obviusly this doesn’t have to be always truth but infinite it’s a Microsoft game so…even so i generally have no problem with games runnig worst so you can ignore this point if you want it
  2. As i said before i 343 werent capable of bring us a 120fps mode i would totally understand, but in the last flight we actually saw 120fps mode on series S and it was a way that not only worked fine, it was almost perfect (even much better than series X) so if the console it’s capable of do it why not do it?
  3. I understand that those of us who have series S need to have proper expectations because in much cases this console can be a lack, but in the case of Halo infinite 343 show us an awesome escalability level on a way than even one S isn’t a drag in this game for series X or pc (even series X isn’t running the game at 4k so clearly it is not easy for series X to run the game). So i want to close with a cuestion for you (not a rethoric cuestion it’s a real cuestion i would like to you to answer and maybe it can change my perspective.
how adding a 120fps mode represents a drag on more powerful systems?
why adding it would represent a decrease in quality in these platforms?
that’s all, I would like to hear what you think about everything i said

People that buy consoles IN GENERAL should set proper expectations.

The Series X basically has a 3700x and a 3060 in it, so it is basically a mid level PC right now. That is huge for console, but these people need to also understand that high tier PCs will always outperform even the newest, most cutting edge console.

The Xbox Series S is capable of displaying 120Hz, and is capable of upscaling to 1440p. If this unit can’t run Infinite at 1080p 120Hz come launch, I will be genuinely confused.

Its a nice addition but is it really worth the resolution hit?? It was dropping close to 540p according to Digital Foundry in their first Tech preview video

Exactly, this is what people should expect with a 300$ machine when playing a game that is basically coming out at the start of 2022.

540p at 120fps on the 300$ Series S should be exactly what is expected.

And it’s exactly what i expect, personally don’t have any problem playing at that resolutions, i understand most people doesn’t like it, but that’s why it’s just an OPTION for us who want it

The key word is “easily”. If it was so easy, they would just do it.

The biggest issue with this stuff is that

  1. anything in software development is not easy no matter how easy it may seem
  2. 1 small menu option equals countless hours of QA resources tacked onto it on top of the dev hours
  3. there are bigger fish to fry. I’d rather them focus on bug fixes than giving kiddies 120fps at 540-720p.

Kind of crazy that people really want 720p in 2021 tbh…

I would agree with you expect good luck finding a 3060 XD the lowest I’ve seen one is still like 700$ usd which is insane since the msrp is supposed to be around 330$

Haha I’m glad I have a 9700k and a 3070 in my build. For those who cannot afford high end PCs though, the Series X is a really good value (basically has a 3700x and a 3060)

I am confused. Is the Series S blocked from certain FPS boosts? I thought Halo Infinite is promised to be playable at 1080p or 1440p at 120FPS for the Series S. I just got the Series S because I got tired of waiting for the Series X. Let me ask it this way: what is the best graphics (in terms of native resolution and FPS) can the Series S play in Halo or other games? If I can only get 1080p with 60fps, then I’m returning this and sticking to my One S console which can already do that when Halo Infinite comes out. (I’m not going to pay $400CAD just to load my game a minute faster.) And…I’ll just wait for the Series X. (Appreciate the help, my technical knowledge is still in learning phase). What I do want to pay for is being able to play 120FPS at least at 1440p (native). Or else, it’s not worth upgrading from the One S.

I’m pretty sure the one s only runs at 30fps. If the is a fps mode, there is no way it runs at 1080p

wooow you are expecting a lot of that console, at this moment infinite runs at 1080 60, in the first flight series s got a 120 fps mode at 1080p upscaled but we dont know if this mode will be there in launch. Now, 1440p at 120fps really? even the series X have problems with that.
Finally xbox one, it will run halo infinite at 30fps and even with that frame rate the game usually runs at 1080p upscaled from 720p, if that console gets a 60fps mode it will probably run at 540p or something like that.
