Yeah… Now that I think about it, The Chief is ALWAYS doing things that the voice in his head tells him to… and it ALWAYS leads to mass destruction.
Perhaps Master Chief is just plain insane, and Cortana is merely a psychotic delusion… telling him to kill stuff…

He certainly has a habit of destroying everything he touches. It would be an interesting plot twist if this was some sort of geas from the forerunners/precursors and humanity is actually the ancient evil they where talking about in Halo 4.
