My friend brought up a good point today and I wanted to ask about it on here. In the level The Maw, you drive up to a bridge that appears to be joining 2 parts of the ship. This is when foehammer is shot down by the banshees. The pictures I’ve seen online of the PoA do not have anything that resembles a bridge on them. Can someone please solve this conundrum?
I’m not quite sure myself, but it could be possible that the crash may have ripped the ship up pretty good. Perhaps it’s just an opening made by the crash landing/space battle with the Covenant.

No, it’s quite clear by the modeling and texturing work that the ship it’s not just a damaged area.
The answer is that the PoA was constructed with, shall we say, abstract geometry. Read up on it!
Ah I see
So Bungie didn’t take into account the outside of the ship when they made the level. I guess if it was more realistic, it wouldn’t be as fun to drive through

I always did find it odd how the Pillar of Autumn which is just over a kilometer in length, had a warthog run that equates to a distance of 3.5km lol.
My article linked there does highlight how the Maw Run was significantly longer than the ship. The bridge area you refer to is supposed to be at the top between the first and second structural sections of the Autumn.
In the revised Reach/Anniversary Autumn, the Longsword hangar is a long flat rectangular panel on the front of the Autumn, despite the fact that the interior really can’t be reconciled with the exterior. And the fact that you drive from the back of the ship to the front and yet in the cutscene, the Longsword emerges from the side of the Autumn somehow.
