Breakout which is H5’s premiere game type. This is very similar to COD’s search and destroy but with a flag, or gears of wars execution and for those of us who remember old school halo’s elimination.
This play list has so much potential to be great, currently it has basic settings of low shields and pistol/smg starts. I hope that this continues to grow so much, perhaps different modes featuring things like a bomb variant, the ability to revive teammates, maybe a no shields mode where kills give you a little shield back.
Moving to the maps section, honestly this new game-types specific maps are very entertaining. in fact it would be nice to see some of them added to other sections and even add more variations of the already installed maps. I honestly will be forging breakout maps more than anything just because i love the style its a simulation map that truly looks like a simulation.
I am sure there are lots of people who aren’t the biggest fan of this type of playlist. But it is a favorite for some of us out there. Here’s congratulating 343 on a great addition in breakout. Keep up the good work.
Looking for a few others who would be interested in playing a ton of breakout and working on becoming better. I have noticed after i play break out a bunch I get into that “good mindset” and by that I mean I play aggressive but still defensive. It helps put you in the mind set of I need to secure kills but I need to do my best to not take damage and/or die. Which is what you want to play like if you are competitive even in the slightest.
My personal game improves exponentially after I play breakout playlists because I continue playing the rest of the game-types just like that.
two days ago now I had two games where I came within a kill of a perfection each time, didn’t camp, just played how I would play breakout, avoiding area’s where you know you are at a disadvantage, and when you initiate on a player you finish him or you make sure he is going to be Kill-able for your team.

Interesting, kinda cool actually. I just like the fact that its less people running around with reckless abandon. which is why I am not the biggest fan of CoD cause that is what a big chunk of the player base is unfortunately, and sadly in that game series most of the players who do that actually seem to do pretty well. search might be the only gametype on cod I really enjoy.
I would rather have full health tbh. As it is, there hardly a need to go for the flag. Full shields would make them want/need to go for the flag to win.

It has full health just no shield, and the damage is changed a bit because you don’t get one shot head shot kills so its slightly different. I would like to see a revive option like in campaign. or maybe a variant with regular damage but no recharge.

I’d love to be a part of that. I never get to play with a team but I usually wipe out the other team singlehandedly

Meaning, I’d love to work with a good team so I didn’t have to do that every time my team quits or has no game plan

I think the shields are at 48.5% in Breakout with full health
I really like Breakout. Now that I know the weapons and such. Before I didn’t know the pistol was any good. It’s confusing how many people take the flag and go in the wrong direction though, haha

Breakout is a standout addition in Halo 5.
Along with: Weapon Skins, and Strongholds which is dramatically better than Territories.
Honestly though Breakout could simply have been a game mode made in Forge, and the maps are Forged. So it might have been better to just have playlists that accomodate extremely popular community-made gametypes then to release it as an entire gametype. Sort of the way SWAT became popular in H2.

Its supposed to be different. They also tried Arena Breakout, with full shields and normal arena starts, which had mixed reviews by the community (I believe. I liked it.)
Also I wish they would take the hydra out of Breakout. It can be too cheap if your not ready for it. Also there has been times where I am taking cover behind a wall but not to close to the wall and it kills me!

Breakout was/is designed to be a highstakes single life gametype. If shields were removed then the time to kill would be so short it could make the game tactically irrelevant, like SWAT is (most times). My guess is from the supposed negative feedback for Arena Breakout (which I liked), is full shields create a longer TTK, decreasing the overall value of a single life and bringing the gametype into an arbitrary teamfight scenario. Single life elimination is a great idea, but it seems to be hard to pencil in the fine details when put into a Halo unniverse.

Yeah I agree with this. I like the idea as I used to love Rainbow 6 on the original Xbox, but in my few Breakout games played I was turned off by the fact that I needed to re-learn simple mechanics. When I play FPS’s I’m very one-track minded (purposely), so that I can react, shoot, etc. instinctually (not a word?). If I have to constantly think about my shields and other different game mechanics it would limit my effectiveness.
