Why was the flag added? I really loved this mode in the beta, potentially being 3 on 1 against your opponent and still being able to win if you have the skill made for some great games. Adding the flag has really removed a lot of the tension that made this mode so good if you ask me. disappointed
Adding a flag prevent stalemate. If it become 1v1, one guy is either going to say behind or chase the target while the other might do the same. Giving a flag force them to engage combat.

Promote map movement, prevent camping, and give the player who is going 1v4 a chance to win a round.
The flag prevents stalemate, if the flag is out of the flag post, the side where the flag is closest to, the enemy team of that side wins. Ex: The flag taken out flag post and is moved a foot closer to red base, resulting in it being closer to red base than blue base, when time is up, blue team wins, because the flag is closer to red base. The flag is a perfect addition to preventing stalemates, and encourages campers to move the flag to prevent them from losing when time is up. Another scenario for the flag is when there is a 1v3, and the lone wolf is camping, the team with 3 members left can capture the flag, instead of hunting the last enemy, encouraging the camper to engage the enemy.
Not a valid point IMO. You have to kill all opponents to win the round. So where’s the stalemate if it’s 1 v 1? Someone has to get the kill… if both of them elect not to bother going for the flag there’s still the same stalemate. Arguably it just makes a focus out of the center of the arena. It would be nice to at least see a mix of the flag and non flag variant as seen in the beta - showing up in the playlist. Personally I think this played a lot better without the flag.
Don’t really know how i feel about the Flag, i liked the mode in Beta but this does help prevent stalemate

But what if one guys keep hiding until time run out. This will lead to a draw. Plus, the other guy might do the same as well. Remember, you can easily die in this match so people might be more careful and use cheap move like waiting for the prey to come. A flag will force them out. I see your point but I see there a possibility that this might be possible.
It just seems like a pointless addition. I never had any issues with stalemate in the beta and heck, there’s even a time limit on rounds which prevents that kind of thing anyway.
It counters camping to run out the clock. Great idea in my opinion.
So the final survivor doesn’t hide forever. It forces the players to be involved and keeps the match from lasting too long.
Just a thought - if all the maps on Breakout are the same digital Tron looking ones from the Beta (I haven’t played Breakout on the full game yet) then instead of a flag, how about the level goes into a Sudden Death mode and the Blocks/Buildings start disappearing turning it into an open flat field… or the playing area starts falling away forcing the characters into the middle (a little bit like Bomberman)
