As the title suggests, I’m pretty pissed off that Breakout isn’t ranked anymore. It was one of the most competitive playlists, it’s now hideously unbalanced and quite frankly, boring to play.
I haven’t seen anything mentioned officially about this decision which makes me even more angry. How poor is that?
The only reasons I’ve seen for it being unranked are: 1) Low popularity and 2) “Pros” didn’t take to it
If reason 1 is the real reason, then making it unranked has made it even more unpopular. It takes forever to get a game now, then the game sucks matchmaking wise. I got games much faster when it was ranked.
If it’s the second reason, then who cares about “Pros”. There are way more regular players who enjoyed Breakout than there are “Pros”
Do the right thing and make it ranked again for the players who really loved it. It’s not going to affect players who don’t like Breakout, is it?
Then you have a playlist like SWAT which is still ranked, and is the most random luck playlist there is. How are you supposed to maintain a rank in SWAT when you get spawn killed 5 times every game. Any -Yoink- can get a kill in SWAT, it’s not competitive.
Breakout is competitive by design, you can not get spawn killed, the maps are symmetrical and the playlist is generally well balanced with weapons and 1 life per round.
I don’t think making the breakout playlist social was anything to do with pro’s. I imagine it’s population as I can’t ever get a game in it.
But I don’t know. I never liked the shield system in breakout, it always seemed pretty broken and inconsistent to me - pretty much kiss goodbye to a fun game if the connection was anything other than absolutely perfect. Now it’s social I’ve been more inclined to play it…well, if I could find a game. Been searching a mix of Breakout and Warzone assault for nearly an hour now and only played one game, yay!
It’s obviously due to low population. I’d basically get matched with the same people over and over during a session. People in certain regions most likely struggled to get a game at all!
I was always able to find a match when it was ranked. It is a good starting point for the night. But the downside to breakout is the fact it was never about capturing the flag. It turned into a slayer match. Sometimes you can breakout with the flag, but more often then not, even with a 3-1 advantage, players hunt down the last guy instead of scoring. Overall, breakout receives an F. I agree, if this game is only about the pros, then that is a huge mistake. How many pros vs. joes? The game is supposed to be for everyone, not just 400-500 people who play for money.
