Love it or hate it, Breakout game mode potentially could be on the tournament scene.
It caters to the spectators. The map is made linear which allows the spectators to view all the action simultaneously resulting more action on the screen if 343i designs the spectators view to do so. Plus, there’s more display of the excitement. Lets face it, the fans bring in the money to any big sport franchise not the players in the sport. E-sport is growing and the spectators will determine the growth.
Map design needs some adjusting.
Maps need to support laning!!! Positions should be a big part of map design because it plays very much like speedball.
Back player
Mid player
Front player
Back player provides cover fire, majority of call outs (has most view of the field).
Mid players supports the front man’s assault
Front player is rushing for quickly penetrating the other team’s defense (they typically have a short life span in game).
Maps should be broken down to the obvious left, center, right like it already is. But there is a lack of laning mobility. The high ground in the back is one sided on the current maps. The back players currently cannot force the enemy team to go right or left side of the map. The high point should be in center back allowing the players to quickly provide the fire on the other team from pushing one side of the bunker, so the other team is forced to go left or right of the bunk. That would be better map control of locking sides down.
There are a lot of high and low covers that’s makes it hard to lock down the field, while isolating players from their teammates. The 4v4 becomes a 2v2, 2v3, ect depending what side of the map you rush too at the start. It feels like a big split on the left side from the right side.
I would like to see one side having the quick dash across the field that has the most cover from the map but leaving the center and rest of the other side a little bit more open and evenish grounded.
Every player should have only a pistol in hand to start. And pick up the other guns on the map. Ranged, assault, shotgun, and ect for the ranged, mid, and close combat.
One grenade start works well. It’s a good punish for the rushers and force the other team to move.
