I invented an idea for a mode called Breakout Assault. It would function just like Breakout, except that you need to take a bomb/ball to the enemy base and detonate/arm it to win. I don’t believe that you would be able to fully replicate this using Custom Games. If you can tell me how! I want to have the little Breakout thingy that shows how many people are alive in the bottom corner, but I also want the ball to be the secondary objective instead of the flag.

But that wouldn’t stop people from camping in the base waiting, it would be interesting, but it would need to have special maps tailored to it, maps that need LOTS of cover.

I f players camp in the base, you can just pull back and send the other 3 people in to clean them up. Rushing would be really risky. It would require lots of teamwork.

That’s exactly what Breakout was before they updated it. You brought the flag (bomb) to the enemy’s base to score. Grabbing the flag, while being an instant death warrant for whoever grabbed, automatically switched the enemy team to camp mode around the base. So, just like the way it was before Breakout got updated, it’s just far easier to kill the other team outright than to try and score with the flag (bomb). Even more so in a Breakout-style Assault game.

Silly me. I tried to edit my post instead of the full thread.
I haven’t tested New Breakout, but it is never a good idea to hand a group of noobs Shotguns.

I do know that this is similar to Old Breakout (which was better IMO). This just requires a small time to score the automatic win. The arming zone would have to be well covered so that you are not extraordinarily vulnerable to enemies. Maybe it would work better with the current mechanic of pulling the objective back to your base.

Actually attempted this, also tried a “Search and Destroy” type setting with two detonation zones. I used Assault settings with rounds enabled and 1 life only, however the rounds glitch the ball/bomb and reset it automatically, even if you are holding it, post first round (you’ll know what I am talking about if your tried it), so cannot do it until that glitch is fixed.

Good to know. Thanks! This is what I was thinking of doing. I built a very questionable Breakout gamemode replica in H2A. It had round based single flag CTF. It sort of worked (as in it would have worked, but the flag straight up didn’t spawn. I made the entire map and mode in one day. You can expect glitches and issues when you build something that quickly!).
