Breaking News: Uninstall Disc 1 From Your HD

DISCLAIMER READ BEFORE READING THE REST: Okay, now there is some confusion with what I meant by this post. I wrote this A) Very Late, and B) This type of issue seems to be a user-to-user fix, meaning that it may work for some and might not work for others. I have an xbox slim 250 gb hard drive. Now, my thought on this is the game may increase performance for some but may not increase it for others by installing it.

I am only trying to offer a solution for people that may or may not be experiencing game-breaking lag. The lag you may be facing COULD BE (NOT IS) frame rate lag. The minute I uninstalled the disc the game runs a lot smoother and people I know that were having the same issue did the same.

Do not come here screaming “it shouldnt matter, installing increases performance” maybe some xboxs work better with running off the disc drive. So, instead of BASHING what I came up with, why dont we just try this simple and easy suggestion and see if it helps.

ALSO, I got absolutely no frame rate lag doing this in dominion, except for a brief second on Exile. That is amazing. Enjoy.

Hello Community,

I just want to say that I am only creating this topic in hopes to help people that may be experiencing extreme frame rate issues in matchmaking or whatever (just try this!)

Okay, so I recently thought that I was lagging extremely hard for no reason. I will tell you why. I have a good connection, not saying there is not some server issues, but I am definitely saying it is not extremely bad as a lot of people were putting it.

Here is why, when Halo 3 came out there was issues with installing the original game onto the hard drive. Does anyone remember that? Well, I installed Halo 4 on my hard drive and not thinking about past issues was starting to obtain game breaking “lag” or better yet “frame-rate lag”.

The issue is due to the fact that the game is reading two things at the same time (or should I say the xbox is). Why? There are things (I am not sure what) that are read off of both disc 1 and 2. For some reason when you install disc 1 as well as 2, it gets confused or aka the xbox cannot read that kind of memory that fast off the hard drive.

I will tell you, I did this and have never been happier in my life for a Halo game. Now I can ACTUALLY enjoy playing this game.

I will continue to post here for updates on the progress, please let people know if this fixes any issues you may have.

Thanks and I love you Halo community (and a special shout-out to my buddy Drew that made the suggestion),

EDIT: Let us be clear that there are still “regional” connection issues. This is for people who have been having trouble with possible glitches or framerate issues. Try it and see what happens. (You can only hope! :))

I never installed disk 1 onto my HD in the first place, still experiencing worst lag I’ve ever seen in every game

me too,.

For a minute there, I had hope, but this comment killed it :’(

No I am saying that this does fix the regional connection issue but 343 already said they would look into it.

Does installing even help the campaign’s performance?

My Xbox 360 still isn’t quieting down despite the fact that I installed to HDD.

Would it be better to install to an USB drive?

there’s no need to confuse people op, as much as you’re trying to help. installing halo 3 to your hard drive was an issue back then because installing games to your hd came out AFTER halo 3. it had something to do the halo 3 disc not the hd. installing games to your hd puts less work in the laser lens and loading time is shorten. though, i would say that maybe your xbox runs better when it’s warmer (if the disc is constantly spinning).
so installing games to your hd now is actually beneficial and will increase performance; but don’t expect too much of an increase.

Yeah, I was about to say. Halo 3 came out long before the ability to install games to your HDD did.

Yeah it seems like it takes a while for the noise to die down. Thanks for this post!

It only came out a year before you could install.

I get frame rate issues during dominion with it installed so I will try it out!

Only had frame rate issues ONCE, and never saw it again. weird… (my xbox is kinda new though)

Umm well I installed both discs and I get lag on and off all the time even with other games such as Reach and 3 (before and after I installed all of them as well)

There’s only two differences between an XBox hard drive and the one in your computer.

The XBox drive starts its MBR on sector five instead of sector 0, and it used the XFAT file system and the one in your computer most likely uses NTFS if it’s running windows.

Other than that, installing both disks shouldn’t hurt anything.

I think it is dependent on the xbox. Mine seems to run better with the FIRST disc uninstalled. The second disc is a must.

This could be due to your internet not the installing of the disc. this topic was more centered at people who were experiencing what they thought to be extreme lag but probably more than likely was framerate lag.

Installing is sort of requires so that I can run one copy of Halo 4 on two Xboxes.
