Breaking: New Multiplayer Modes are Anti-fireteam; Seems Counterintuitive

I enjoy some FFA with friends. I do not enjoy FFA single player. My friends and I only ever play Halo multiplayer, and all this time, we’ve played no more than one game of standard FFA each. Just not worth it to us to go solo. Anytime a challenge pops up, we challenge swap it out.

But now we have Last Spartan Standing. Sure, it won’t be center stage for long, but it will still pop up on the challenge list. I was greatly excited to simply play and have fun with some of the Rumble Pit modes like Rockets and Repulsors, but that’s an FFA game, game as well.

I planned to buy the S2 battle pass day 1, but I’m still undecided on whether or not I’ll ever buy it because I don’t know if we’ll even play infinite that much at this point. We may play other modes on occasion, but aiming for challenges like this is just awful. (Not to mention the increased number of Quick Play game types to clash with my CTF challenges.)

Is the reason FFA modes prevent fireteams because of the fear of people teaming up? I personally don’t care much about that. And if you’ve played other games like Smash Bros online, people who don’t even know each other end up teaming up in FFA games. I can fight my friends just as well online as I do in splitscreen offline.

I just want to play online with and against my friends, 343.
