"Breaking down The Walls" destructible environments

Ok so basically in this thread I would like to have a chat with you guys about destructible environments. First off I’m not asking if it will or will not be in the game. I’m just basing this thread topic of rumors about destructible envornments and the teaser trailers spolsion pistol wall destroyer thing.

When I say destructible environments I don’t mean little pieces of rock chipping off of a jersey barrier… I’m talking full fledged blow a hole through a wall. To me it doesn’t belong in multiplayer at all. It would be nice to have in campaign to break through some doors or find secret areas.

I got a couple questions for you guys and gals.

Would you guys want destructible environments?
Would you want them only in either Campaign or Multiplayer?

It might be cool, but it’s not on my list of priorities for Halo 4. Having never played a game that uses it, like Battlefield, also makes me a bit indifferent, too.

Oh, and if I had to choose destructible environments for either campaign or multiplayer, though, I think I’d choose campaign.

I would find this a great thing to have in both campaign and matchmaking. I think that blowing through walls to make it the next objective would make a great part in a campaign mission. It would also some good gametypes and maps.

Yes!!! It’s super cool! Smart players can use destruction to their advantage in many ways as well. Like if your enemy has your flag in a CTF match and you see him running across a catwalk you can bring it down (with something like a rocket launcher) and stop him and maybe kill him.

It’s not something I’ll be expecting to see in H4, but it certainly would be pretty badass. If I had to choose, I’d like it best in campaign.

I think the option should be able to be toggled in Forge.

For example, you highlight an object, pull up the menu, and then there’s an option to set the object to “destructable” or “indestructable”.

And, yes, I think this option should only be included in Forge, Customs, FF, and Campaign.

Not in Matchmaking.

When Back to Karkand Map Pack was introduced to BF3 I was already getting sick of the game then everything being blowupable in Back to Karkand the only thing people were doing was blowing the maps up. I literally sold BF3 the day Back to Karkand was released…

I love DE in campaign but it’s just wrong in multiplayer. Maps are built to have certain flow. Adding holes to walls here and their pretty much detroys the design of the maps layout. I can see it working in a few specific spots on maps but overall it’s just not a great idea.

The only way I could see of destructible walls making it into multiplayer is that only specific walls could be blown up. Also most of these types of walls would probably need a fair amount of damage done to them to actually be broken. That way a designer can add a breakable barrier that can change the flow of gameplay, but they can still predict the changed flow and it would unlikely be something that could done right at the beginning of a match.

I think destructible environments could be used in moderation. Although, if rumors are true then it will probably be included in the game.

I’d like to see pillars and concrete stuff like that break, but no huge environmental stuff to break. It’s not even practically used in BF3, and only worked in the Bad Company series and that was because of the way the gamemodes allowed it to work. Halo would never really benefit gameplay wise from this, and would be a gimmick more than anything.

I think it could belong in multiplayer for certain walls. It’d be cool if forge pieces could be set to “destructible” (costing more). Forge maps would be really complex if it did :slight_smile: Imagine all the new Custom gametypes that could be created!

I was going to say… I don’t think so. haha I’m a little under the weather right now so… yeah lol.

i would like that, but more in campaign also i like the idea but it will probably not be in halo 4

Some multiplayer ideas for destructable walls:
High Ground remake with the moveable wall destructable?
ALso for invasion it works really well. Imagine if there was a wave where you needed to destroy a series of walls while the opposing mows them down and tries to prevent them from doing so?

That would be cool and all…

but if Halo 4 is truly using another modified core of previous titles, it’s probably not going to happen. However, if they can and are willing to do that, that would be just another reason to buy this game.

I want it but not everything destructible because then the game would either have to be downsozed or it would be glitchy and slow and some points. People would find ways to glitch it or something. But I do agree on like trees ripped down by bullets but not like any stray building you see.
