Break Out Fun

Finally gave this game mode a chance last night not sure about the set up. Have to say I loved it. Was a nice change of pace from Swat and Slayer. Teamwork is a must and you actually feel like you are achieving more then just killing and rez’ing. If you haven’t tried this mode out yet I would highly reccomend it. I believe everyone should start out in SWAT just to get those twitch muscles back but after that branch out and try some of the other modes.

Others thoughts on Break out. I hope to see you all out there and remember to give all the modes a chance before you just say this game is boring and nothing new. I have played a shooter in over a year and I have really enjoyed the modes. Also, remember that this game is not about you K/D ratio. Sit back and enjoy just playing the game. The moment you start getting wrapped up in stupid stats you are taking the fun out of your own game.

I’m surprised how much I enjoy Breakout. I still think they need to take out grenades on map. Just one grenade per player.

I really love this mode (despite the fact I had at least 1 player quit in the 1sr round of my last few matches). It has the intensity of CSGO and is like a balanced, frustration-free Trials of Osiris/Elimination.

Hey OP, do you feel that any of the breakout maps feel a tad too large versus the beta?

I think Break Out can be crazy competitive if shields were added. As of right now it’s too easy to kill opponents just look at how we all chuck grenades at the beginning of the game in hopes that one will damage us to score an easy one shot kill. Having shields would change the pace from favoring the individual who sees their opponent first to whoever has greater marksmanship.

Now I know in either case marksmanship will trump all but with shields the person being shot at has a chance at turning that tables. It then becomes how are you going to out smart me on this portion of the map.

Another thing that I feel should be changed is removing the Hydra from whatever that map is called. Why is a heavy weapon on a single kill elimination gametype with no shields?

The problem with breakout is there is no room for counter strategies. Each map has one strategy and that’s it. If you look at Gears of War Execution mode, one team uses a strat, the next round the other team changes their strat to counter that strat, the next round they both change up a different strat. The reason they can do this is because the maps are either big enough or have enough cover to allow for different angles on the enemy. Breakout is an interesting game type, but it needs a lot of work in order to be a skilled game type and most of the work must center around better maps. Especially since you can never run out in the middle to flank on any map because you would die instantly.
Note: This GOW reference is from thesuicidefox, who made a great comment about this in another thread and opened my eyes to why this game type frustrated me.

I like the game mode a lot. Its has a counter strike quality to it.

I think BR and DMR are a tad overpowered. Whoever secures those usually racks up a bunch of kills.
