Okay so we’ve all heard the comments back and forth about the woes of farming. 343 said they’re looking into ways to prevent deliberately farming. So let’s help the process along! Post your ideas of possible solutions below and maybe 343i will find one useful and can fix it that much faster! Some examples of current ideas are:
Spawn points beyond the base (so as to remove the “shooting gallery” effect) - AI assaults one of attacking teams bases forcing a split of forces - [My preference] Limit the amount of commendations you can get in one game per person (that way once they get their max they’ll want to move on to the next game and try to end this one as fast as possible)In the word of Robert A. Cook “Say and do something positive that will help the situation; it doesn’t take any brains to complain.”
So let’s use those brains and get this sucker fixed!
(P.S. And no “Remove Achilles”. That ship has sailed.)
Matching teams against teams and Randoms against randoms would solve the problem for Warzone. (Well arc may need some tinkering)
Warzone Assault is a different matter.
A forfeit option for the team where all players can vote to forfeit if all 3 bases are lost and have been lost for a few minutes. Or simply the ability to blow up your own core. Have to be careful with the core one though, some players would probably blow it up asap when they get in a bad mood, I’d like to always TRY to continue the game if possible
i would personally like the option to see a gew squads of elites taking over an armory or garage. or even the ability to spawn additional squads of marines that are friendly to the player/team that called them in (think of a req card uncommon for 4 marines, rare for 8 or 4w/rockets and for example ultra rare or legendary for a squad of ODST’s). that would be very helpful and add more diversity in matches. or for example the community favorite drop pod req. drop in anywhere on the map like an odst (ultra rare or legendary otherwise it would be abused but if the requirements are too high it wont be used).
this way the team that holds all bases isnt punished for their accomplishment but they still have means to escape or turn the tide

and then there are the -Yoinks!- whic forfeit the game cause they are grumpy little kids that cant take a loss. and thus ruining the game for other players

I agree as that that should be across all matchmaking normally purely for balance (but if time to match is too long it can be overruled I suppose outside of Warzone. Too long of queue gotta break up the party till Firefight gets here.)

I like that idea of having support REQs that can only be called in if you’re backed all the way into your core. But they would have to be something indirect unlike a weapon or vehicle so people don’t sandbag just to get that weapon. Perhaps if reinforcements came after a certain point, like 3 Assault Pelicans (or Falcons :D) arrived after say 4 minutes of the core being exposed and started strafing any hostiles outside of the base, covering the defenders to take back the first base getting their defenses back up.

For example yes, perhaps make it something not player controlled, however airstrikes is a bit OP because if they are too weak they will just get shot down, if too strong people will let the weaker team cap something to restart the timer and then immedietly cap it back. But i think there need to be at least some support reqs to be implemented.

Perhaps instead of air support (which would still be very cool) or REQs there’s a mechanic that penalizes the attacking team if they fail to destroy the core in under a certain amount of time. But what specifically I’m not sure. Perhaps maybe say they’re REQs get locked out for 2-3 minutes. Not sure.
All these ideas are not only stupid things in this thread but the people who came up with them are too. Penalizing a team for kicking YOUR horrible butt’s is stupid just give people more REQ’s for coring early and this problem in DONE. There might still be a few who do it but it will be significantly less but otherwise any other idea is either poorly thought out or just made in a tantrum.

A friendly critique of your top 3 options:
I think the first option would only play right if you were actually being farmed, if not then the winning team could spawn in an even more advantageous position… Then the question remains, are you really being farmed? how will this be monitored? Will the game ever be able to truly tell without question that a certain team is being ‘farmed’? Doesn’t farming have a subjective definition anyway? Unless you want to the computer (or whatever kind of automatic moderator) to incorporate formulas that are forced to assume that a team is or isn’t being farmed, then this option could potentially make things worse
AI assaulting bases, I think this one has potential. But again the question raises, how will the computer know when to attack the farming teams bases? I think if this is be incorporated then it would only work if both teams are treated equally. For example, once a team captures all 3 bases, score aside, winning or losing, farmed or un-farmed, then the AI can start attacking bases after so many minutes of total control. This could potentially ‘start the game over’ multiple times in a match. This could force a team to a split up as to keep the bases under control. Seems interesting.
Limiting commendations… This one will be difficult to defend, I personally don’t like the idea. But let’s talk about this. If you do, will this really help? Assuming your being farmed/spawn trapped by a team of people (which odds are you are) they aren’t going to stop until every single member of the team reaches this limit… by that point maybe the game isn’t even any shorter! Unless the limit was say 15 kills, or 10 kills per commendation… but then you ask yourself, what if I’m the winning team and we’re not farming? We’re just a better team, I don’t want my commendations to be limited because my skill level is higher. Would you?Out of your options, I like option #2. Farming has been an issue, I’ve been on the losing side as well. In reality, it will never go away. I appreciate the post and the thought you’ve put into your concern. I think more AI capturing bases after a team has been dominating for 2 mins (for example) would be a fun adaptation to the match.
But to add to discussion, I propose this: Greatly* rewarding a team for destroying the core in under 5-6 mins as opposed to dragging out the game. Perhaps more teams would rather get the huge RP or XP boost for winning a quick match than dragging it out for commendations. Yes there will still be a few matches that are one sided and farmed, but I feel this would limit it.

Im normally chill but all this punishing farmers is getting on my nerves and to see it EVERY DAY just gets aggrivating as farmers wanna have fun too and your basically trying to limit or punish them for enjoying it. Sorry about the earlier comment but I just cant stand this stuff anymore but I read it to see if anyone has a valid reason for punishment.

Punishment? No, that would be taking it too far. On the other hand, the consensus opinion is that farming definitely qualifies for an “Unsporting Behavior” report within Xbox Live. If you accumulate enough of those, you will receive a multiplayer matchmaking ban. Something to consider.
[IDEA] How about a security room where there is a switch to activate turrets that are outside the entryways to the base and core room.The room is somewhat large and can be chosen as a spawnpoint when your core is vulnerable and to prevent the enemy from camping inside friendly a.I. equal in health to elites (such as Spartans) armed with shotguns would defend the inside.The turrets wouldn’t be OP they would be like dominion turrets in halo 4 but would respawn every thirty seconds after destruction.And the a.i. Spartans would spawn away from the door so that attackers aren’t insta-killed.The room would have to be designed so that people can’t spam grenades inside every few seconds to kill the people inside.
The room could be made so that it replaces that useless middle front section of the base and could be given a window so that people will see anybody camping outside the door.The room could also possess the ability for people to spawn with req weapons for 10% less reqpoints if all the bases are captured and they have the mastery commendation for the specific weapon(For example I could spawn with a railgun for three reqs but if we capture a base then it goes back to four)

Oh no, I have no issue with getting my butt handed to me, it’s just that then being toyed with for another 15 min isn’t exactly ideal for the game. If they can just sweep us, let 'em go a head then we can both get onto a new match. These are just ideas on how to encourage them to keep pushing instead of just dragging it out.
