Braille in the Mjolnir GEN2 Armor

I saw some time ago a few dots in the armor of Halo 5, that look like Braille, for those who don’t know what Braille is, it’s basically a language that is only interpreted using your hands, it’s used by blind people. And now I saw on a site that those dots are what thought, it’s their ID as a Spartan in Braille. It’s amazing those little details 343i puts in stuff like that. Don’t you agree?

I do. I think it was a really cool detail. I never would have thought to use it.

Yeah; this was mentioned in the H4 ViDoc, it showed the chief and the guy said “That reads 117” as it panned over the Braille on his chest.

Blue Teams Mk VI Gen2 varients or regular Gen2 armor? Because all of Blue Team have their Spartan tags on their armor, the Spartan-IVs don’t because they don’t have numbered tags like the IIs.

Interesting detail… But why? Are Spartans hanging out with a lot of blind people? ARE SPARTANS BLIND?!

Yeah they had that in Halo 4 with Master Chief as well. Glad they’ve continued with this little detail though. Much better than the number plastered in giant white writing on thier chest like in the anime and comics. I really find that look silly and against the whole concept of people not know which is which by looking at thier armor. Aside from Halsey.

It’s a recognisable tag without sabotaging the camouflaged colour of their sky blue or green armours.

I think a “Why not” is a better question to ask.

Also, there are situations where numbers may be rubbed off, identifying a spartan may come down to the braile.

They needed an identifier so that, in case killed in action, people who are not familiar with the spartans could use the braille number to identify them. It would be less likely that the covenant would understand braille, but painted on numbers would be recognizable to them. So for example: Sangheili leader says “Kill the one marked numbers” and they go look for it, they see 3 spartans, which one is their target? Painted- obvious. Braille- “Uh, which one is numbers?”

Kind of like how in the Vietnam war, we removed rank from our soldiers because officers were easily identifiable and killed by snipers all the time before they did.

PROBABLY OVER-ANALYZING, but hey- if they didn’t have a good reason, they can use mine.

It is pretty cool, that’s how people fingered out Fred was in the game

Yeah, but the point of braille is to feel it out. Not visually read it. Not that you couldn’t, I suppose. Just seems like an odd detail.

Nice one. Sounds a bit weird though.

“fingered” :stuck_out_tongue:

bid things make a game good but small details make a game great
