BR55 rate of fire

As many of you know, the BR55 will be available as a loadout weapon for the January update. It’s possible to assume that all it is is a “skin” that changes the look of the BR while the actual weapon characteristics remain unchanged. But there is also the possibility that along with the retro skin, they also changed it to behave more like it’s old self, which is mostly dependent on the gun’s rate of fire.

For Halo 5, 343 drastically increased the BR’s cyclic ROF (time between each bullet in a burst) to something like 1200 to 1500 rpm, leading to many mistaking the sound of its’ 3-round bursts with a single shot. Older battle rifles had a steadier ROF of about 900 rpm which gave it that classic distinct burst sound.

So my question is, with this new (old) BR, do you think the lowered the ROF to be more authentic?

They are gonna add the old burst sound to this rifle, right?

The easy answer is that it is simply a skin of the existing item. With all the fanfare around it and the fact that they don’t actually call it a reskin, I would guess that they have gone all out and made a new weapon with unique properties.

It sounded a bit slower to me. I suspect the H2 BR will be modified to perform more like it originally did. Possibly slightly more damage but less aim assistance in addition to the altered sound effect?

I dont think they would be able to balance it out. with a slower burst of the H2 BR the H5 variant would beat it out 100% of the time.

It will be more powerful, but not too powerful or else it wouldn’t be a loadout. It’s also a Legendary, so it probably won’t be available till 8 reqs or so. It’s be balanced. I just hope that it has the Classic BR sounds, or the remastered Halo 2 Anniversary sounds.

Yes. You can hear it in the trailer.

Here you go. it’s also worth noting that it is the H2A Campaign BR55 sound effect, which is awesome.

I believe it was a two shot in the trailer, or I just missed stuff. or three.

Yeah, this weapon is a Mythic weapon for warzone and forge ONLY, since this is a mythic weapon this clearly will have something else to it. Pretty much all mythic weapons give you stat bonuses, here are some examples…

Nornfang (Sniper) - Increases your damage, allowing 1 shot kills regardless of where you hit.
Prophets Bane (Energy Sword) - Increased movement speed and has active camo.
SPNKr Prime (Rocket Launcher) - Has increased sheilds, jump height and movement speed.

So the “Halo 2 Battle Rifle” will play just as it did in H2A but give you a stat, most likely movement speed and a damage boost.
