BR with red dot?

So what does this mean for our lovely Battle Rifle?
Hopefully the zoom function will stay the same except with a red dot instead.

I was about to post this myself with the title “Should I be worried?”. Hopefully, as you said the zoom function will stay the same with a red dot instead.

Probably just a small aesthetic change, like other weapons have gone through? I wouldn’t get too worked up, the zoom function will probably be intact. It just looks different, that’s all.

This, and maybe the reticule will actually be a red dot of some sort when zoomed in. I doubt ADS is coming to halo…

Remember ODST smg had red dot too

As long as it does the same job (three shot burst, 2x zoom) I’m not worried about what they stick onto the rail…unless it’s, y’know, a hot dog or something.

Maybe you can customise your weapon appearance way more now? That would be pretty nice.

I would guess it is probably a change to highlight the different roles between the AR/BR/DMR. The sightless AR for ‘close range’, the red dot BR for ‘mid range’(though I imagine it will still have a zoom.), and the scoped DMR for ‘long range’.

So my current theory is this: If there are no loadouts in the game or at least the ‘arena’ modes, the AR/BR/DMR will be the sole starting weapons depending on map size. DMR for BTB, BR for mid size, etc.

Alternatively they could be the 3 selectable starting weapons if some sort of Reach style loadouts return.

Halo will never have aim down the sights. I’m sure it’s purely aesthetic. Like the Halo 4 BR that looked like it had a holoscope.

It could be a new weapon. The version seen in the Halo 5 Guardians beta trailer had a readout saying it carried 72 rounds.

In that case, it could be the MA5K.

Yeah, when I noticed that I was a bit worried to see it.

Go play ODST and chill. It’s nothing to worry about.

Maybe loadouts are back for Halo 5 Social playlists, and the BR has gotten a range nerf to fit in with the closer-range weapons for balancing.

Or, as others have said, its to indicate that its the midpoint between the AR and DMR in regards to range.

Only thing I am concerned about atm.

Before we shudder in fear and rage and assume that a BR with red dot sight indicates ADS, allow me to remind us all that the ODST SMG included a red dot sight.

It’ll probably be like the SMG from ODST.

Red Dots look awesome on Guns.

The BR is an Awesome gun.

I have no complaints.

Why does everyone assume it is a red dot sight? They probably just replaced the holo sight from Halo 4 with this one. It’s probably the same functionally and everything.

Because it is a red dot sight, at least on a visual level. I have no doubts that it will still function like a regular sight, but that doesn’t mean that doesn’t change the fact that the BR does have a red dot sight now.
