So. I played a few matches of BR starts. I don’t like the weapon variety that are currently present. ARs and SMGs are not good weapon pick ups due to the fact they need to travel much more in comparisom to BRs to be in effective range of 15 meters. While they can get kills when they get into range, competant BR users and teams will always evade them, rendering the guns mostly useless unless they flank.
I feel the Radar has a hand in it. In AR starts, the BR was a mid tier power weapon that benefits the increased Radar range, while the AR did not. If the Radar was reduced to 20 meters, the BRs effective range, the AR can act as a mid tier power weapon to the BR starts and see more use. If the DMR and Light Rifles are to substitute for Snipers, I dont think this is asking for much.
Currently, the AR starts settings do not translate well to BR starts. If we are ok with shutting off radars in Sniper matches or Pro MLG settings, I think a reduction in radar range would only help the gametype.

Because I’ve yet to be at a 50-50 if I am more closer than 10 meters, the ARs dominant range, I’m set so long as he doesn’t have back up. At 20 meters, the BRs dominant range, I’m fine so long as he doesn’t have back up.
To ARs, the radar was a warning sign. To BRs, it’s indication of possible kills. I feel it needs to be reversed if we are to have weapon variety and maintain that same feeling. I wasn’t feeling that when I tried as much as I wanted to use the AR and SMG as much as I did with the BR on AR starts and the results are as different as the lighting betweem Empire and Eden.
In short: The BR’s doing its job. The radar is giving off targets early enough for them to react and mow down competition. I feel it is for the best interest of the gametype to reduce the range of the Radar to allow better weapon variety and maintain the usefulness of the BR without hurting it or the competitiveness of the gametype.

That sounds great although I really feel that the BR has long been too powerful so it could be tweaked…
But also the radar can be toyed with if the player(s) are simply more patient in their approach. The element of surprise is always big regardless of what your holding outside of a power weapon.

I’d rather keep that to Pro playlists. Removing it completely in a playlist that normally would support it would be too big of a nerf and players that rely on it, or simply prefer to play with the radar on, and harm their experience.
I’m ok for pro playlists to not have it. However, in a regular team slayer playlist, this would be a bad idea to make it 50-50.
