Straight to the point.
I think that Slayer BRs should be more scarce in Halo 4. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind the BR itself. I have played WAY too many Slayer BRs/DMRs matches (most of wich were beyond my control), and am sick and tired of it, and either there should be a playlist with no Slayer BRs playlist, or some option in the Psych Profile to reduce the chance of Slayer BRs from showing up. I know many people will agree with me.
Variety is good so I’d like some different gametypes to crop up. They can mix it up, even something like Carbine Slayer or Needle Rifle Slayer… I love the BR and DMR but there is no surprise that its everyones top tool of destruction.
I like rocketFox’s idea, but the main problem is that the non-BR type weapons are useless because they’re so pathetically inaccurate.
BR spread? Less than 0.8 of a degree. AR spread? 4.6 degrees. There needs to be a weapon in between.
There really needs to be a custom games finder, and a BR slayer playlist.
I prefer AR starts which apparently makes me a casual and social noob with no skill. I just like variety and map movement.

could I get a link to this information? I have seen weapon charts for nearly every BF game never a halo game.
and .8 degrees of deviation on the BR, I doubt it that’s standing unaimed accuracy of an AR in BF2 and I have never seen anything with more than 3.0 degrees of spread.

Varitety? Most of the sandbox has been less then stellar in the past games.
Map movement. This exists with dmr/BR starts.
I agree, I remember in Halo 3 the Social Skirmish playlist was AR starts only until they removed ranked objective. I prefer AR starts as it does promote map movement unlike the DMR, the amount of stale mates I have had with DMR starts it is ridicules, the BR wasn’t as bad though.
You could say that AR starts is bad for competitive gameplay as it is a weak weapon that gives the player a limited ability to defend themselves, but take a look at Quake. That Machine Gun that everyone spawns is much weaker (relatively) than the AR and Quake is one of the most skilled, competitive games out there. I know Halo isn’t Quake but they similar in nature.
However, if 343i get the balance right, the BR shouldn’t be massively overpowered like it was in Halo 3.
Hopefully the AR isn’t useless in H4 then.

Lolwut? If you like map movement, why would you support spawning with a weapon which means you’ll be dominated by anybody who’s managed to find a BR/DMR? That leads to spawn trapping and hide-and-seek; it definitely doesn’t promote map movement.
i really would like to see the carbine and for it to have some kind of slayer based gametype for it but i would rather have a carbine swat instead of a BR swat, not only that, but i really miss the SMG. The carbine and the SMG is what i would be anticipating!
.

yeah dude, the fully auto weapons are underpowered in every halo game compared to the semi auto or BR weapons, but the needler is just too darn annoying.

Dont give me the variety and map movement nonsense. All AR starts promote is running in a straight line holding RT and mashing B.
Agree, I like just starting with an AR and magnum. And then trading the magnum for a DMR
as an upgrade.

Im with him, and it doesnt matter if you’re a noob fun is most important!

The needler is FUN!

This is a massive misconception everyone seems to have. Neither the BR, nor the DMR are overpowered in their respective sandboxes/games. Everything else is too WEAK.
A prime example is Halo CE, the AR in that game obliterated you if you couldn’t evade it’s fire. You shouldn’t be weakening weapons in the sandbox, you should be making them stronger (within their respective limits of course)
Balance is complicated and a matter of opinion, but if we’re talking about sandbox balance, then the BR should trump the AR in mid-range combat but there should also be room for skill to overpower the other via map movement, grenades and general experience. For these things to be able to exist you need maps that don’t suck, weapons that kill within a reasonable time and distinct consistency between player abilities, which may I add becomes SO much harder when Sprint and various other abilities come into play (which I didn’t want to see in Halo 4 but that went out the window didn’t it…)
@OP, I don’t know why you’re freaking out though, nobody said BR slayer is the default start up. In fact they even said it’s not really even a gametype so to speak. It’s just a mix bag of stuff they were testing out.
I prefer BR starts, it just gives you more of an opportunity to get a kill right from the start, instead of in AR starts having to find other weapons before being able to do anything.
The only reason its my tool of destruction is because i play way to much SWAT…
And i agree, to many DMR starts in reach. Why is there no other playlist besides SLayer and DMR slayer? It makes no sense to me. Needle rifle slayer? Rocket slayer? Magnum slayer? Something besides elite slayer, ar start and DMR start please.
