Does anyone else just hate that you start with an AR and pistol instead of either the BR or DMR. I feel like the AR is a no skill weapon that is had to outplay when the person gets on top of you or another person you just out BR’d has you hurt.
Halo 2, 3 and 4 were a lot more fun to play because you had that BR or DMR start. That was always the professional way a match was handled. But now its just AR and pistol why?
Well I think it is because the AR war underused on Halo 4 but if you want you can find weapons on the map like DMRs and BRs
If more people complaint about this they might just end up fixing it but for now AR and Magnum ftw

Because the two weapons were destined to be complementary, so that you could fight at all ranges off the spawn, whilst still leaving BR/DMR users a touch ahead in their respective range categories. It works well, it flows better, the horrible campy cross mapping affair that some matches devolve into has been wiped out. AR/Magnum starts work on nearly every map. BR starts would work on plaza… And… Ummm… Maybe rig. That’s it. This game plays differently to halos 2-4. The weapons are actually balanced for once! Really well, too! BR starts would kill this game.

Haven’t even touched that yet was just ready to get back into playing halo as a competitive game, not like what halo 4 was.
Please no. If anything, have specific game modes for it. AR and pistol is fine, that’s classic Halo starts. The AR is great at close range because it is meant to be. You’re SUPPOSED to get the drop on people with the weapon, that’s how you win the fight. You use the pistol as a way to give yourself a chance against people who rush BR and DMR. Like the guy above me said, all we would have is long range camping with no real action. In respective ranges, each weapon is considered its best. Use the pistol until you find a BR.

I don’t think it would kill this game, and that is what halo has always been, no one votes for a team slayer match, I think having the AR as a starting weapon really makes the game less competitive.

Yea im more than fine with having multiple game modes where its more like a hardcore mode from former halos where, but maybe also add in voting where you vote for team BRs or team slayer like it used to be. Yea I’ve been using the pistol just fine but nothing fits more than the halo BR. I also don’t know how many people I have seen try to shoot the AR at people across the map…

BR starts are the reason I used to hate the MCC. It’s only after they added the Halo 4 playlist which doesn’t have constant BR starts that I started to like it.
If you want to use a BR then just find one. There are different weapons scattered around all the maps. Just learn where all the BRs are then just head for them to pick them up.
Part of the fun is going after your favourite weapon. If everyone starts the game with the BR then that is all most people will use and the game will be boring pretty fast. It will also put off new players meaning Halo 5 would end up with a very small online population due to lack of variety driving people away.

A playlist for BR starts would be fine even though I would never select it but voting system would drive people away from Halo 5 just like it did with the MCC

I’ll put on my self entitlement hat and say, I’m Diamond 1, you’re Gold 1, hence I’m better than you. I’d pick AR/Magnum over BR start ANY day. It’s a fuckload more fun. Yes, we can have a BR duel, if you so please. I’ll even use the Magnum.
AR and Magnum starts are a good combo. Magnum as primary. AR to clean up enemies when magnum need to reload. BRs and DMRs are scattered around the map to make players go to that location. And you can always host a dedicated custom games lobby and set BR or DMR starts.
