I absolutely adored tac slayer when it first came out and it was BR only, since they added the variety weapons I havent lost interest in the mode but I do despise every other weapon , does anyone else feel the same? Should we keep the variety weapons in ? Make a ranked playlist thats BR only and keep a social playlist with the variety weapons?
If you trawl back through the various threads you’ll see there are a lot of very different opinions.
Some people just want the BR.
Other’s don’t mind some, if not all, of the variants.
I’m in the latter group. I like how it mixes up things up. The optimal engagement distance is different. And you can move through the map differently.
Whatever the weapon you are still rewarded with the instant kill on the head shot. So there is no reason that a good TS player won’t thrive with the different weapons.
They must have rebalanced it to give BRs more often because I get them a lot.
My opinion has gone from aboslutely hating it, then to hating specific weapons. Now manglers is one of my favourite modes.
(I still prefer BRs)
What they need to do is alternate the playlist.
Classic and Mixed.
Run classic most of the time… but have mixed at certain times of the week. eg. Tuesdays and Sundays.
That way - people can have some control over what they play.
And of course. Even better would be some sort of match composer. That would fix everyone’s problem.
Yup, we “just” need more playlists. In the opposite fashion, get rid of te BR loadout from Slayer, it only ruined it.
I like the variety. I’ve always liked the extra variants in past games like swatnums in 3. Playing the exact same thing all the time with a single weapon just gets tiresome after a while and this game has been out for over a year now. If it only had BR then I’d be unlikely to play it very much at this point.
I’m of a somewhat mixed view on this.
SWAT, or Tactical Slayer as it was renamed to for no good reason, should have weapons which work in the gamemode.
The BR works 100%.
The Commando is somewhat fun aswell in my personal opinion and I do quite enjoy it.
The pistol is also quite enjoyable.
The Mangler is not enjoyable. It simply does not work in the SWAT enviroment. Sure, it’s a one shot headshot. However it’s also a two shot kill to the body.
The Stalker Rifle also feels pretty bad to play with since the reticle is pretty inaccurate and feels like it takes up too much of the screen.
Essencially, if you load into a match you have a 60% chance of having weapons which work in SWAT. This would probably be solved by allowing players to vote for which gamemode they want to play, like they could in Halo: Reach.
This would make a lot of people happy with all playlists.
I like the variety.
The mangler is a completely different game mode to the BR, but i do enjoy it.
The stalker rifle version is a more pure version of swat. Anyone that doesn’t like it it’s just upset that it doesn’t do a better job of covering up for their bad aim like the BR does.
I don’t really like the sidekick, it is usually too spammy with luck of the draw bloom.
Commando is fine, I’m just bad with that gun.
I’m all for a BR only situation for tactical slayer. But even the OG swat playlist in Halo 2 had various weapons such as pistols.
Swat is fun for me to play solo because I can’t stop calling out and when I’m alone I just skmy don’t have time in swat with a one shot kill.
I enjoy BR, Stalker rifle and Sidekick in Tactical Slayer.
I don’t enjoy Commando or Mangler variants though.
Commando is so spammy due to it being full auto rifle and it’s even more pronounced after the update that made it more accurate. Mangler on the other hand can kill with 2 body shots, so it makes killing an enemy way too easy (even for a gametype where a single headshot kills) if moving as a duo. It’s honestly harder to miss bodyshots with the Mangler at close-mid range so it’s pretty much a guaranteed kill playing that way because you don’t need to be accurate with it.
So I’d personally like to see those gone.
At first I didn’t like the other weapons but they grew on me. To be fair though it’s not like I’m playing that much. If I actively played my opinion might be different.
It’s difficult. In Halo 5, the SWAT playlist had a solid abundance of ranged precision weapons that all fit within a tight performance class, which is probably where 343 got the idea to throw Halo Infinite’s weapons into a similar system.
Problem is, all of the precision weapons are wildly different in Infinite, in terms of both comfort and performance.
For Halo Infinite specifically, in my own opinion, I do think it would be wise to have only the BR in tactical slayer. People will probably disagree and that’s fine, but keeping things consistent would be nice.
I think “BR only” is a bit too limiting…but the Mangler has no place in “SWAT”.
Personally, I think it should be limited to mid-range precision weapons, with Sidekick secondary weapon:
BR/Sidekick…
…or…
Stalker/Sidekick
Soon, they will theoretically release the successor to the DMR, which would be the BEST option to pair with the Sidekick for Tactical Slayer…
…imho
I think it’s more likely they will replace Tactical Manglers with Tactical Bandits once it’s out and call it a day.
Actually, I think that the variation is good. True, I prefer the BR more in Tactical Slayer matches, but it’s also good to mix things up a little, like using the sidekick, Commando Rifle, and the Mangler.
Sidekick allows you to peak out or run across open spaces. Deadly at close to medium range… but you can take risks at longer range.
Mangler is a bit similar - but has a slower / dropping trajectory. The whole melee thing is over-rated because it’s pretty easy to head shot someone that close.
Commando is brutal. It may have drift and/or bloom - but it’s first shot is deadly accurate. It almost feels like a DMR. And I kind of feel it’s more of a TS weapon as opposed to the tiny spray and pray of the three burst BR.
Stalker rifle is similarly cool. But leaves trails. Keeps in interesting. Probably the easiest to zoom aim.
I just want to suggest bringing back the old feature of voting for gametypes. It would be perfect for Tac Slayer. Set it up so the first choice is completely random, but the second choice is always BRs. In the event of a tie, it will choose a hidden third random gametype/map selection.
That way, most the time you’ll probably just get BRs, but if a team wants to play something else they can just stack-vote off of BRs, and while it’ll probably be a tie there’s a 3/4 chance it won’t be BRs anyway.
Kind of creates a best of both worlds situation. Players who only want Tac BRs, which is most of them, will only rarely have to play anything else since most of the time BRs will get voted. While players who don’t want BRs, can group up the vote and will most likely get something else. But neither type of player will absolutely always get what they want, and that sounds pretty fair to me… Unless you try to matchmake without a full team and are trying not to play BRs. Hate to break it to you but your one vote isn’t gonna mean squat if your friends arent there to vote with you.
The Tactical Playlist should be Slayer, CTF and KOTH with Magnum starts, No Motion Sensor and only Tactical weapons on map.
As for all these other Playlist like BR and so on should just disappear. Halo has always been about controlling what’s on map and not to mention Halo needs evolve and stop doing the same thing over and over again.
Id say BR and Sidekick only for “Tactical Slayer”. One of the key playlist that kept me on Halo 5 and another reason I havent touched this game in months. Its not because I dont want to play with the VK or the other weapons, its just that for me, it doesnt feel organic.
