Given that we have a good amount of footage of the precision weapons by now, that Halo 4 is about to go gold, and that there has been talk of the BR being underpowered in comparison to thebother weapons, I think it’s time to compare the precision weapons to each other, again.
DMR: 5sk weapon with a good range and DPS. Bloom is easily manageable, but the user has more trouble landing the last headshot in comparison to a burst user.
Carbine: Great DPS and very fast ROF. Unsure about how many shots it takes to kill, but it is basically a Needle Rifle on steroids. Looks like it has pinpoint accuracy at all ranges.
BR: 5sk burst weapon with the lowest DPS (unless it’s ROF got bumped up from he E3 build) out of the three precision weapons. Has an easier time landing the last headshot from its burst fu-… Wait, what was that? Something about a new Forerunner precision weapon that A LSO can fire in bursts?
Light Rifle: 5sk when fired in bursts, 4sk when fired on zoom with single shots. Can fire three single zoomed shots and then fire a bursted shot for an easier last headshot… Taking what the BR does and maybe even doing it more effectively. Has a DPS comparable to the DMR and Carbine.
Am I the only person who finds the BR underwhelming? Did it get some sort of buff from the E3 build that I’m not noticing? Anyone want to compare their DOS values from this build?
I agree somewhat. The br seems a bit underwhelming but I feel the gameplay we’ve seen isn’t really a good representation, by which I mean I’ve seen few people that are actually good at it. The carbine, br, and dmr all seem pretty close together for me but the light rifle seems way to good to be a loadout weapon. Just have to wait and see more.

Just wait until someone analyses all the PAX gmeplay, then argue about the BR being -Yoink-, the E3 model is old now and many things has changed. In my opion if the BR stayed a 5sk but had a higher ROF then every thing would be good.
I went into Pax thinking that the BR was the worst of the bunch.
I went into the first game with the DMR as my main weapon and BR as my secondary.
I did okay with DMR at first, but as I ran into more people with the BR I kept getting out shot.
It was hard for me to manage the DMR and Light Rifle (used in my third game) at short to mid ranges. When I pulled the BR out however, I quickly caught up to the leaders in Regicide.
I only used the carbine once, so I wont say a lot about it. I got completely wrecked by it once and only once. Every instance after that I never struggled against it.
how do you know what DPS the BR is? did you go in theater and watch every millisecond of it firing and compared it side by side with all the other weapons at a consistent rate? if so what is the DPS for all the guns

That’s what I figured. People who complain about the BR as it is don’t usually take into account anything other than “It’s 5sk and everything else is 4sk”. However, if what you say is true, than everything is fitting the niches they’re supposed to.
