So is the BR, in Slayer, any good now?
I think the base version will remain the same in its current state; it’s the other variants that received a recoil tweak.

How long has it been since you used it in Matchmaking?
The base version will remain unchanged, but there is reduced recoil on the Longshot, Sentinel, and COG scope attachments since the kickback made them extremely inaccurate.

the aiming is still really bad in this game. It’s the only game where I feel like I am fighting the controls AND the enemy. It doesn’t matter what sensitivity I change to. It SUPER frustrating…

Still broken and virtually unusable in Arena. You’re better off with literally any other gun.
I seem to remain the minority. I don’t have too much problem with the BR. It is great in BTB, and has a role in ranked 4v4 as well. It is no longer the universal weapon we once knew, and in my opinion that’s okay.

I agree. I think the issue with the BR isn’t as much to do with the actual BR itself, but the idea that people still think of the BR as an all around weapon to be able to kill at short, mid, and long range and they’re still USING IT as such. So of course people will say there’s issues if using it at those ranges because you’ll be getting killed more times than not and it’s different than previous Halos.
I, too, was a little annoyed that the BR wasn’t an all-in-one type gun that we’re used to, but once I got comfortable with the pistol the issues with the BR went away. The BR is more specialized now for mid range fights so most people having issues with it still are either using it for short and/or long range battle (which it won’t be effective well and anyone has trouble getting kills at those ranges with it) and/or they usually aren’t efficient with the pistol or not as efficient with it as the players they’re playing against. Therefore they keep going back to the BR as an all around gun and not getting short and long range kills with it like they’re accustomed to getting with it.

Of course, you’re better off with other guns in Arena. Arena isn’t only mid range gun fights and that’s only where the BR is intended to shine. This is a prime example of the idea that the BR is still an all around weapon used to kill at any place on the map or if within 5 feet of an opponent. Either work on getting better with the pistol which H5 has implemented it as an all around versatile weapon or only use weapons how they’re intended to be used. (EX: BR for mid range, DMR for long range, Pistol for all around weapon, etc.)
I never even bother to pick BR up if I have bullets in my magnum
