now i know most players come into topics like these and say dmr is SOOOO MUCH BETTER OMG U NOOB well wrong in med range the br has more aim assist and makes it easy to make head shots and that what makes the br better at mid range what do you guys think
also a question can one if the 3 shots in a br round miss?
assuming 2 good players that put every shot on, the one with DMR will ALWAYS win against the one with BR.
Clearly unbalanced.
and you forgot about the recoil of BR that makes it more difficult to handle.
anyway i played with both for some time, and i really think DMR have more assist even at mid range.
> also a question can one if the 3 shots in a br round miss?
One of the 3 can miss. But the positive though is that only 1 of them has to land for the final (no shields) shot to the head.
That is why the BR is superior when there is no shields on an opponent. Or SWAT.
Even if the BR had more aim assist at mid range, which I really don’t feel that it does, that wouldn’t make it a better weapon. That would make it an easier weapon. The fact that the DMR has a faster kill time makes it a better weapon at every range.
No, it doesn’t work that way. In THEORY, yes you are right. On paper? Maybe. But IN GAME, IN PRACTICE, the DMR slaughters the BR because it kills far too quickly.
If you suck really REALLY bad, yeah, maybe the BR will actually do better for you. But any player with average to high aiming skill will still 5 shot like nothing. The reason is the DMR and BR have different aim assists, and the DMR works almost as well as the BR’s for close range fights.
While the BR has a higher sticky reticle (meaning your reticle slows more while you are aiming at a target), the DMR has a much higher bullet magnetism (meaning your reticle can be farther off of the target, and the weapon will still hit). This coupled with the DMR’s ridiculous 1.6 second kill time renders the BR useless in comparison to even your basic average player.
Buff the BR to a four shot and reduce the aim assist. Done.
just did some research seems like the dmr gets shots off faster is that true?
Yes, that’s why it’s OP.
Feast your eyes.

The DMR also kills 0.25 - 0.3 of a second faster.

BR is better because it is a crutch. Brilliant logic.
A crutch is a weapon that is easier to use but less effective. A skilled person using the DMR will win because they do not rely on aim assist (as much).
exactly the br allows you to have a bigger reticule and a easier time getting mid/close range kills and in return you give up some rate of fire speed and much less range. So basically yes the BR is weaker than the DMR if both players have perfect aim. An average halo player using the BR on say Haven is going to beat the average DMR user on haven and the average halo player using the BR on complex is going to lose to the average player using a DMR on complex. This is weapon balance making them exactly the same is not weapon balance its turning them into the same gun with different appearances. The sniper rifle when used by someone with perfect aim is better than the rocket launcher but you never would want 343 to weaker the sniper or buff the rocket launcher.
That being said if 343i does listen to people who think the DMR is too strong I really really hope they buff the BR please don’t weaken the DMR. The speed at which a player can kill with a starting weapon has a huge impact on gameplay. The br was incredibly weak in halo 3 and as a result the game became much more focused on controlling power weapons. Now power weapons are awarded by random chance so if you get 343 to weaken the starting weapons you are strengthening random chance.
