It seems to me this is what this game has become. Every game is the same. Everybody spamming the BR or DMR.
In my opinion it is no longer fun to play. Am I the only one who misses the days where you had to seek out the better weapons and fight to control them throughout the game?
Camping weapons spawns and grabbing weapons like the BR/DMR or power weapons and then slaughtering the poor fools that spawn with Assault rifles from across the map isn’t exactly a display of skill.
Yeah because one team having better map control isn’t skill. That’s a part of what has always made Halo. I liked Ordinance drops but I think they should only be awarded on killstreaks while leaving the main weapons, camo/overshield on the map.

This is why the Ordinance drops are fantastic, they give the lesser Halo player the chance to get back into the game, which I think is great. On the other hand, you don’t know weather the enemy team has a certain weapon or not which I hate. Like if Red Team got the sniper, it’s like ok, THAT guy has sniper. Now its more random which bascailly they have to kill you to find out what they have, to aviod or plan accordingly.
Second, The loadouts are what is killing me, OP right, it’s a spam-fest or BR’s and DMR’s. Yes when we started with the AR is was charge and shoot, and then melee, But I rather everyone start out with the AR, I mean its “nice” to be able to fight long range, but the entire game’s become a long ranged battle, which I hate.

no, you are not. Im literally playing this game to get armor, and no other reason. That is what this game has come down to. The only reason to play it is to rank up to get armor , its not to have fun and win and be good. Im bored of this game after a week because the only point of this game is to get armor. -Yoink-
OP, I figure you hate people who use the DMR/BR because you get killed by them pretty quick and it ruins your gaming experience because you lose. I am right arent I ?
When I first got into Halo 2 I used to absolutely hate the people who used the BR because I did not know how to use it. This weapon is accurate and difficult at first especially now with so many experienced players who have gained battle experience with this weapon in previous titles.
My advice is to stick it out and learn how to use this weapon. I promise when you start to master the underlying mechanics of a BR/DMR battle you will begin to appreciate the competitive nature of it.
it was a spamfest in halo 3/reach as well. Team A got control of the good spawn point, and dmr, rockets, spartan laser, sniper spam.
Change is always hard, especially when it comes to an establish franchise. I find the load system very balanced when it comes to leveling the playing field, but a skill player regardless of load out or weapon will put a hurting on ya.
My advice is get better with the AR, or learn to use the BR/DMR.
Somewhat disagree. I like the ordinance drops. I stopped playing reach after a couple weeks so I’ll just compare this with halo 2/3. The thing which I thought set halo apart from other games is that you need to have a set up for each map. This is where the idea of teamwork shines so brightly. Controlling the map is hard. You need 4-8 people (depending on the playlist) to be disciplined and stay in their spot while calling out what weapons, vehicles, and spawns the enemy has. Now the weapon ordinance is interesting to say the least. Teams can’t control power weapons, which gives each team a fair shot at winning. It’s not fun when everyone on your team has a sniper, sword, rocket launcher, and whatever other power weapons spawn on the map. I have to say, I’m impressed with the ordinance drops. Gives each match an “x” factor that you can’t prepare for. The only thing I would change, is how long dropped weapons stay on the map. It seems like they disappear too fast.
I actually have to respectfully disagree with this thread. Not that the other Halo games didn’t have power weapons, they did but I think in many ways they were dominated much more so by a single weapon. Ce-Pistol (Oh how I miss you), 2-Godly after patch BR (Glitches made it even stronger), 3- BR to a lesser extent, Reach- DMR especially after update with no or reduced bloom.
I actually feel like in this game there are more weapons that can effectively kill people consistently. Obviously, the DMR and BR are going to be the preferred starting loadouts because of there usefulness overall but there are plenty of other weapons to either ordinance drop or pick up that can do real damage to the opposing players/team. Needler, SAW, sticky detonator, beam/human/binary rifles(still matter), Incineration cannon(It’s a monster) ect…
If you actually think about it I think most people would agree variety wise we have way more choices in this game, and more importantly way more choices that you can still gets kills with.
Agree. I really miss the classic halo play of controlling spawns, knowing what weapons your oponent has, and proceeding accordingly. Giving everyone a dmr/br has turned every game into a long range headshot fest. There isn’t a lot of opportunity to put close range weaponry to use. A little more balance between different gameplay styles would be appreciated.
I’m doing fine k/d wise but I’m also getting a little bored with all the dmr/br fests. And I still can’t believe how effective concentrated dmr fire is against vehicles. That one bogggles my mind, especially with ordnances added and tons of other power weapons floating around, why does dmr fire have to be so effective against vehicles? Almost every big team battle starts out with a bunch of vehicles from both sides going out and getting destroyed in less than a minute, and then everyone exchanging dmr fire. There is very little reward for using vehicles right now, it’s almost certain death to do so. Much safer bet to sit back and dmr. This to me is a big problem with big team.
Honestly, I think some kind of classic mode, forcing weapon pickups on maps would help some of these issues. Just my opinion. I like the dmr, but I feel there is too much emphasis on using it right now.
I use all 10 guns in my various loadouts and change it up based on what’s working for me. After looking through my stats by weapon it’s clear the unsc guns are crowd favorites, covy guns are doin it for me personally
