With the advent of the DMR and the light rifle, the need for the BR and the Carbine is near non existent. In halo 4 we have seen this, the range and power of the DMR/light rifle in TU and preTU form severely reduce both the BR and Carbines overall effectiveness. While the TU did increase the effectiveness of the BR to nearly match the DMR(Although, if the DMR operator lands all his shots the DMR will beat a BR in practically every encounter). The Carbine however, is a different story. Even with the Title update, the Carbine showed that it is not effective versus the high powered utility weapons nor the High powered CQC rifles.
Whether or not the BR and Carbine stay for Halo X1 is unknown. The Br, with some more tweaking could remain possibly, but the Carbine should definitely step aside and allow its more competent cousin, the Needle Rifle, to takes its place. The Needle Rifle would lead to better overall balance in Halo X1 because it can hold its own with the DMR and the Light rifle.
God no as much as I dislike the BR it should stay yet be weakened through a slower fire rate ,the carbine is too awesome to leave. Although I’d like the needle rifle to return since the two together would cause carnage.
So, you want only long range precision weapons? That is a bad idea. DMR already ruins open maps as it is, I can’t say for the Light Rifle since next to nobody uses it but I’d guess it does too.
Why do you think the DMR beats the BR still? The BR’s killtime is now faster than the DMR, inside the BR’s range it will more than likely win. As a matter of fact, the thing kills too fast.
Carbine is a mid/close range precision weapon that is the Covenant equivalent to the BR. It fires faster than the BR, which is supposed to be its advantage over it.
The Needle Rifle wasn’t really anything special, if anything it was a Covie DMR, and didn’t really have anything special about it.

More weapons is a good thing but every one is boring just going for the BR and DMR, of the other weapons were to appear more often and seem as good as the UNSC then we may seem more of those weapons

No , if the BR goes I go. I already had to go two whole years without it and doing that again will kill me. I don’t think you should remove something the competitive community loves. The Carbine is also a weapon that shouldn’t be taken out because it is a fan favorite by many.

They need to become more diverse again, Halo 3 BR and Carbine relationship seemed pretty steady to me. If they return them to similar stats, make the DMR not so easy to use(because it’s between the BR and Sniper but it’s just as easy, if not more than the BR), and keep the Light Rifle the same(I can’t think of any real problems with it) then we might be able to handle them all in the game. Currently they do not work well as a family.
I just had a thought, How about making a BR/Carbine centric playlist with BR/Carbines only usable and a DMR/Needle Rifle Playlist with DMR/Needle Rifles only. This would lead to better balance in the game(Perhaps to some extent anyway) and none of the available weapons would have to leave.

Why would we need even more playlists? If the weapon family has a solid relationship you don’t need to do that, if you have to do that then the game has some major issues.
I really cannot see how this would provide balance or help anyone out in the long haul.

Well if you can’t tell whether they’re in game or not, why shouldn’t they be included for a bit more variation if it doesn’t affect gameplay.

Loadouts are a good thing but packages and the stupid things like PP, BS and PGs ruined that. They cause more variety when there is loadouts

I can deal with Loadouts that only let you select your Primary weapon and maybe your AA, provided it isn’t the only/centerpiece gamemode. I remember thinking that was what IS would be, man was that a let down.

One thing is having two primary weapons like my carbine and AR loadout

I’m not completely on board with that. I still like the idea of having a Magnum as your fall-back and support weapon.
I could maybe, and this could be a very difficult idea to pull off, be okay with different Magnum secondaries. Provided Halo CE Magnum is not an option, but H2, H3, and HR Magnums could work in theory.

I’ll play with that and I’ll be happy but having two weapons will make me happier well dual wield may persuade me.
