I see a lot of people using BR on the Haven map, does have an advantage on this map? Is the BR really superior the DMR at close distances?

Personally I prefer the Magnum on Haven, but since I maxed that out, Battle Rifle is my next choice.
DMR is a stupidly good “point and kill” weapon with no real weaknesses but at mid-range I’d rather have a BR. The burst-fire makes it a bit more forgiving when you’re fishing for a headshot while tracking a target up close.
The DMR is a better weapon, but that will only make a difference if you either make a mistake (miss) or if you’re around the same skill level. If you’re better than the other person, and get the jump on them, you will win.
BR beat DMR on Haven?
BR never beats DMR, not on any map. Any reason you might have for using it is an incredibly minor one.

… It makes a difference the second you choose to use it and someone else doesn’t. if you miss, a BR user might win. Otherwise, never.

And what if a better player uses the DMR and jumps a BR user?
Totally and utterly imbalanced. A worse player can still do some serious damage against a good or great player with a BR, just by doing what they can with it.

On Haven the DMRs range advantage has no effect but it still has the faster kill time. The DMR shoots 5 shots in the time it takes the BR to shoot 4, its only 0.2 seconds but it is there. As far as I can tell the BR has no aim assist advantage either so even on a map as small as heaven I still prefer the DMR.
The BR does have bleed through which is extremely useful when used alongside grenades, it can sweep shoot for easier final headshot kills against unshielded opponents. The BR has its perks. On a map like Haven I would say it is fair game. The BR, DMR, Carbine are all effective options.
