Bots

Someone made a post like this, but abit different. Anyways, what if Halo 6 (Or infinite blah blah its the sixth game so i can call it that so shut up.) had bots? Like enemy AI Spartans that can be chosen as an option in Custom games, the game would be play the same but all the Spartans on each team (Accept you or other players) are AI, that can fight you and jump around just like normal spartans, all their armor would be randomly generated. I think it would be a great option for players without internet or just aren’t feeling like playing with others.

Ooh yeah, something like what Gears has. I’d love to see this as well. It wouldn’t be the perfect substitute for real players, but it would be a lot better to have bot backfilling rather than empty teams. Just has to be programmed properly and it would fit right in with all the other cool features Halo is known for.

I mentioned this in another thread, but having the ability to fight AI spartans on MP maps would be great. Especially for those new to the game or if you want to warm up, huge upside. Even if you could set the difficulty of the AI: Easy(bronze lvl) to Legendary (onyx-champ)

It would be about time. Call of Duty has had them for a long time and playing against them has always been a great way to warm up. Hope to see them in Halo 6.

This would be very good, especially for offline players. I know that in H5, 343/microsoft kinda forced that online play on players so that they can access things like custom games and forge & that is just unfair tbh, so this would be cool. It would be nice if we’d also be able to customize the difficulty on the bots similar to the way we set the AI on Halo Wars to keep up with our own pace.

would love to see this but considering people have asked this and been ignored since Halo3 days I cant see it happening unfortunately. The whole online only aspect to Forge anyway means there’s no guarantee down the line that we’d be able to access any of the cool stuff we make with Forge and AI. It was all so much better when things were offline in regards to Forge

Apparently not so much shorter.

But anyway, yeah sure, why not? UT and Gears did it pretty well. There’d be a lot more possibilities in Forge and customs as well. Shouldn’t be a priority though.

Types Halo 6 because it’s shorter
Proceeds to spend time explaining why it’s shorter than typing Halo Infinite

Just poking fun.

But in all seriousness, I’d rather they just focus on getting the core of the game right on the first try. Programming AI to work on a level that would be fun/competitive seems like a huge mountain to climb. And I don’t really trust any of Halo’s team (Bungie or 343) with their past AI work.
Enemies are super predictable, and friendly marines (or whoever) are just so awful, especially your Spartan teammates in H5. I still shudder remembering the countless times I watched as a friendly AI Spartan would get stuck on a rock or something and not make it to revive me in time.

Maybe for the next next game, after they’ve (hopefully) proved themselves? It’s a fun idea, and I’ve enjoyed playing with AI allies in other games.

Yeah I feel like programming bots that play like humans would be tougher in Halo than in COD because there is more strategy and stuff in Halo’s gameplay. In COD it’s more simple: you just sprint, shoot, throw grenades, melee, use killstreaks. Halo’s AI has never been revolutionary so I don’t see it happening unfortunately.

I don’t think COD’s bots even throw grenades…

Bots like in Perfect Dark? Yes please!

I would absolutely love bots in Halo. Not only to use to warm up, as others have mentioned, but to play against with my kids. I do also have crappy internet, and few people to play Halo with these days. I hope we can get some kind of bots in this next game. And for those saying they’d be too difficult to program, look at the bots in Titanfall.

Would be interesting for custom games! A system like the Bots in Call Of Duty Black Ops would be good.

Yeah, I have a few posts suggesting this. I remember playing Counter Strike for Xbox and it had the ability to add bots, sometimes I want to create maps and add AI, this is the reason I bought the Far Cry games. There was even an Xbox Halo 2 mod that was called “War of the Worlds” that just had a few marines and you’re being attacked by elites. I couldn’t imagine how fun bots in Halo could be, until then I guess Firefight will have to work for me.

If I recall correctly, there’s also a Halo 2 mod that gives regular multiplayer bots.

it’d be a nice edition. I wouldn’t have to try and build up large player bases in the custom browser or get enough of my friends on to test out and play larger forge maps so that’d be nice. I’d like some settings for each bot you add to a game though. examples of what I mean include personality, difficulty, and preference.
difficulty settings would determine how fast their reaction time is, how well they handle a situation, their weapon accuracy, etc. the options would be obvious

  • easy - normal - heroic - legendarypersonality settings determine their play style. each setting would be on a scale of like 1-10 or something. examples might include

  • offensiveness (likeliness of them charging right to the enemy, most likely to try and capture a flag or point) - defensiveness (likeliness of them keeping a safe distance from the enemy, most likely to defend a flag or point)

  • vengefulness (determines their will to track down and kill the last guy that killed them, the guy that got the winning kill in the previous round, the guy who capture their flag, etc.) - stealthiness (determines how “stealthy” they are. as in if they are using cover to their advantage, sticking to map edges or more confined areas during slayer, and if they will try to avoid enemy players on the way to a point or flag.) - noobiness, for the lols (chance of them shooting allies for weapons they want, chance of shooting allies over accidental friendly fire, drives any vehicle they’re in into tunnels and doors, likeliness of doing that stupid rapid crouch thing because they think the bullets can’t hit them, likeliness to t-bag after getting a kill, and likeliness to camp. if this setting is all the way up and on legendary difficulty them it will be an absolute pain to deal with on both teams)and then the preference setting is simply what method of destruction does the bot prefer/ what weapons will they choose over other weapons. examples include

  • precision (prefers snipers, BRs, carbines, etc) - CQC (shotguns, swords, melee, etc) - vehicles - tanks - automatics - air assault (prefers air vehicles and will try to get to get the high ground on the map) - UNSC (human weapons/vehicles) - covenant (covenant weapons/vehicles) - forerunner (forerunner weapons/vehicles) - grenades

I’m 110% for more options in custom games, whatever form those may take.

Bots could be a phenomenal for the game- and help extend its replayability beyond the time when the online community dries up. If I had to choose between a custom games Bot mode or a properly customizable Reach-style Firefight, I’d have to go with the Firefight. But having both would be beyond awesome.

GASP What if…BOTS TEAMING UP WITH YOU IN FIREFIGHT AHHHHH.

Another thing I’d like to see if they add bots is an achievement or unlockable for winning 3 games in a row against legendary or whatever the hardest bots are.

If 64 games can do I don’t see why we can’t have it now.
