Bots in Halo 2 Anniversary.

Am I the only one who thinks H2A should have multiplayer bots? The game has already been developed so it wouldn’t detract from them working on the final product. It would also allow us to continue playing the game after they inevitably shut down the 360 and/or Xbox One servers inthe future.

I’d like it, but it won’t happen. It removes the need to get Xbox Live Gold for some players. Microsoft want there to be every reason a player should have Gold membership.

Keep on telling yourself that, no matter how much you tell yourself that, a Halo game, let alone a Halo Anniversary game will not have bots in MP.

Why do I say this? Because Halo is Microsoft’s flag ship game, it’s what sells Xbox and Xbox LIVE Gold accounts. Secondly, Halo Anniversary games are not games build from scratch from the ground up recreating a past Halo game, they are the old game, repackaged with a second graphics engine overlayed on top of the original engine, with newer map models, character models, weapon models, vehicle models, textures, and sounds.

In order for there to be bots in multiplayer, the original Game engine would have to have bots in multiplayer, no bots in the coding = no bots ever.

Actually their scripts DO have ‘bots’ in them to an extent. They playtest their maps with dumb-AI that roams and shoots at the minimum. All they would have to do is add some mechanics and decisions to the AI and boom, you have bots.

You’re right, there is some dumbAIs, BUT, are they in the .map files for MP maps? I’m going to hazard a guess and say, no, they are not in there.

> All they would have to do is add some mechanics and decisions to the AI and boom, you have bots.

And that would be messing with the game’s coding, which would be a no go.

Needless to say, it’s not going to happen, any “extra” stuff that wasn’t in the original Halo 2, other than updated graphics, could take away from the sell value of those who want their carbon copy Halo 2 with working MP.

I don’t see them adding bots into Halo 2, maybe Halo 5 though. Also, to the people saying that MS isn’t going to add bots, because Halo is MS’s flagship title and it sells gold accounts. Gears of War has bots and people still play it online. It isn’t hindering the sales of XBL gold accounts.

What are you talking about? Do you think they are going to release the game with the EXACT same code line for line? I’ll go ahead and jump to a preposterous conclusion and say -Yoink- NO. Refining scripts and adding mechanics won’t be ‘messing’ with the game’s base scripts at all.

Bots are possible, not probable. I personally would love to have them, internet connection isn’t always there and it’s refreshing to have a large studio recognize that and act upon it.

> What are you talking about?

What am I talking about? I’m pointing out that your MP bots are not going to happen.

You’re right, the game isn’t going to be exact line per line, they’re going to make tweaks here and there to help it run better on Xbox One’s system.

But there’s only so much they’re going to do to the coding. They not remaking the game, they’re making an anniversary edition, and they’re not going to change it from what it was in the original version. And guess what, your DumbAIs was never in the .map files, which means no go on DumbAIs in Halo 2 Anniversary’s .map files.

Firstly, they aren’t ‘my’ bots. The argument originated from whether or not it was possible not probable.

I agree with you, it probably wont happen but, it has NOTHING to do with what the original map files contained. Like you said yourself, “the game isn’t going to be exact line per line.”

How do you know what their intentions are, let alone what they are going to change? And again, they aren’t ‘my’ bots…
