Botlshot OP?

Is the Boltshot a one hit kill if used properly? Because having a shotgun as a secondary is a little ridiculous.

Its been covered many times already. Its a severely sawed off shotgun that fits into your back pocket.

yeah but its range is pretty -Yoink- so it compensates

343 said you wouldnt be able to put power weapons in your loadout. Yet the mauler was considered a power weapon and the boltshot is way stronger than it.

No it isn’t overpowered.

The charge time and the extreme close range needed to kill balance it out.

That’s why people combo it with Active Camo and hide around corners.

Thanks, for the info everyone. I suppose it isn’t that bad with the range limit.

Range limit or not its pretty over powered. It would be a cool replacement for the plasma pistol if it just took down shields and still worked as a pistol but not as a mini shotgun.

Yeah and that’s why if you encounter a player corner camping with camo and a boltshot you change up your strategy and toss Promethean vision on and kill his -Yoink-.

That’s what I don’t get about this community, most people are unwilling to do the bare minimum to adapt to the game. There is a reason we have five loadouts and are given the chance to change them every time we spawn, if the situation calls for it, change up your strategy to overcome whatever the other team throws at you.

It seems most folks are more inclined to -Yoink- and moan about what they don’t like about the game instead of adjusting their own gameplay style to overcome the cheapness of others. They would rather “nerf” everything instead of growing half a brain and a set of balls and dealing with it.

Not that you’re doing this Benson, just tired of others whining.

Positives:
Kills in one hit within 5 feet.

Negatives:
Has to charge up, holds two shots before reloading.
Kills in one hit within 5 feet.

I can kind of understand if you guys want to nerf it, but don’t nerf the damage. That would make it completely useless.

Also the single-fire mode is completely useless.

So make it the exact same as it is now, I.e. Take down shields and fire an extra shot, taking a fraction of a second longer. That fixes nothing.

You guys realize you can melee and headshot someone with the magnum in pretty much the same amount of time and at the same range the boltshot takes to charge-shot someone, right?

It’s hardly overpowered. It just seems overpowered because it’s less complex.

Promethian vision is useless against someone SR60 and using Stealth. No active camo, but stealth. i would know, im SR 66

Since I’ve never used it, don’t they simply appear as an outline? Still visible but not glowing red? If so it’s hardly useless, you just need to be a little more observant. Even if it was useless, as of now most people don’t have the specialization so still the boltshot isn’t overpowered.

Well, Pro Vision doesn’t exactly let you see the enemy through the wall with complete detail. Unless the camper in question is facing perpendicular to your line of sight, you usually cannot tell what specific weapon he is using.

Even if the shotgun blast doesn’t kill you, it will probably pop or lower your shields significantly, allowing for the camper to expend the other half of his clip into your head.

The Boltshot may not have a scope, but at close-range, it doesn’t need one.

meh, i could care less about the boltshot, i was just saying after SR60 it will be trash. i’ve played 403 matchmaking games and been killed by the boltshot 17 times.

im just bored, since im xp capped for the day(like the 8th day in a row). Just cruising forums to see what people are complaining about.

The boltshot is fine the way it is. You have to be really close for it to be a one shot kill. If you miss with that shot you are most likely dead.

I usually use it when I’m weak and someone is chasing me. Don’t chase to get the kill and you wont die from it as much

Incredibly short range, long recharge time, (even when trying to switch weapons). If the Boltshot didn’t kill in a single shot, it would be a worthless weapon.

Also important to note, the Mauler could be, (and was intended to be), duel wielded, so making it a 1-shot kill would be redundant.

> 343 said you wouldnt be able to put power weapons in your loadout. Yet the mauler was considered a power weapon and the boltshot is way stronger than it.

Nope. The mauler had a relatively fast rate of fire and better range. The Boltshot requires good timing, several seconds to charge up, and very limited proximity. Try again?

It is a little bit overpowered.

The nerf it needs:

Currently, you charge it up (about .5 seconds) and you have a bit of time (about 2.5 seconds) before it shoots itself.

They should make it so that it takes 3 seconds to shoot. Similar to the spartan laser, you charge that thing up and the shotgun blast shoots itself at the 3 second mark, otherwise it doesn’t charge.

This element of timing would make it perfectly balanced, also drop the range a smidge.

And to people saying it’s balanced:
The mauler required melee range to kill, the boltshot has a range comparable to the scattershot. It only takes .5 seconds to charge that sucker up. It is NOT in any way balanced because “you gotta time it juuuust right!”, which leads to my proposed solution adding in that element of timing.

Use the Boltshot and really learn it in and out before saying it’s balanced, it is not.

So I tested the ranges of the Boltshot.

Within 15 ft, it takes down shields by half.
Within 10 ft, it takes down shields fully.
Within 8 ft, and no more, it is lethal.
