Bot Fill in Matchmaking Based on MMR

The work put into bots is great, modes with objectives where a bot’s death doesn’t cause point loss are nice to have. Where they are not nice to have is in a mode where points are earned by getting kills such as Team Slayer, especially if they’re not going to contribute.

The bots can be useful on paper in Team Slayer for lower ranked players where they are a threat, but in higher MMR play, or even just average play, they’re effectively making whichever team has a bot lose.

With this said, there is a need to fill in for quitters based on MMR. If a bot’s MMR is lower than the quitter, or the lowest MMR player in the match, the bot is a hindrance more so than being down a player. Bots should only fill a missing player’s slot if the bot will be equal to other players in the match statistically.

Even on the maximum difficulty bots barely pose a threat. I think it’s fine to just disable bot back fill completely in slayer based modes.

This is probably equally valid. Not sure if people posting to the forums are of the average skill set though and I would like to believe 343 is trying to help pad out lower skilled players with bots.

Bots arent helpful, wether in slayer nor in objective modes. Im glad that a ranked match has no bot replacement.

I was skeptical about bots in objective, but they seem to understand basic team positioning better than a majority of players. In a match of oddball I tossed the ball to a bot, and they carried the ball for over half our score. Even when we pivoted to other parts of the map, the bot would follow and take the safest path. In Strongholds it’s nice to have another body to play defense and secure zones. CTF is probably the worst game mode they perform in, but it doesn’t hurt to have an extra body like it does in slayer.
