You know what, you have a point. But the way I see it, having a progression system at launch (even in a game I might not like) is just a standard that any gaming company should be able to make. 343 just hasn’t been able to meet that standard.
I think more than anything, what frustrates me is that they completely removed the option without any attempt to try to rebalance it. They could have made it so that you could only earn 25% of the total exp in Bot Matches that you would in PvP Matches. Or earn only 10% of the challenges instead of 50% of the challenges in Bot Matches. The fact that they didn’t even try to rebalance it i think is the real frustrating part.
That, and I’m still salty over the fact that they made the conscious decision to not include all of the Reach content in this Pass, while still allowing the implication that they would to continue.
It’s more than that, though. My primary goal is collecting armors, of which I need to progress through the battle passes. But, after getting off a 12 hour shift I really don’t feel like playing with other people and spiking my adrenaline at 21:00. Bot Slayer was perfect to play 3-4 games (or however many it took before my Match XP was petering out), progress through a few tiers, and then going to bed. Now… Yeah, that’s not happening
I’ll put it this way. I agree with the concept that much of the progression should be done through PvP matchmaking. But they shouldn’t have eliminated the option to get at least part of the way through with Bot Matches, especially given that the challenge system used to be especially brutal. I’ve heard that it’s gotten better, less challenges and less stupidly-specific challenges. But I wouldn’t be surprised if 343 threw in at least one just to f with the fans.
As you can imagine, I’m somewhat paranoid when it comes to decision making on 343’s part.
I’m aware of that, but they don’t earn “Spartan Points,” So they’re mostly good for just a couple of hundred thousand exps. In the grand scheme where the total earnable is over a billion, that’s not too much, at least on a weekly basis.
I walk to work; thankfully it’s literally right across the street.
But no, I don’t view it like that at all. I am not defending the decision to remove Bot Slayer (clearly, I would rather it stay in rotation) but really, it’s quite ridiculous to go about it as though it was done to spite me, or those like me.
I not sure where those who say no one played it, is getting their info from. But me personally any time I played Bot Bootcamp I was in a match within 2 to 5 seconds. On the PvP side I would be waiting for minutes at a time. Even the so callled popular modes where 30 seconds to a couple of minutes and 30 seconds was the fastest and it rarely happened. Also majority of the game in PvP I had at least one person quit, heck recently it been at least two. Bot Bootcamp I haven’t had anyone quit. And not to mention I don’t have a player that just stands there doing nothing. I enjoyed playing Bot Bootcamp because it was fun, and I didn’t suck at it. PvP just isn’t fun since my friends aren’t on at the same time as me. And it no fun being completely trounced majority of the games. I don’t mind losing it is a back and forth or even just trailing slightly behind for the whole game. But losing by 20+ kills or losing every round or not even getting a single flag captured when the other team gets 2 to 3, heck no. And that has been majority of my experience in PvP. Not fun.
I’m with you on that, We need to find another relaxed game mode to play since pure PVP is always gonna be a challenge for at least someone in the game mode specially those whom are completely new to PVP in general
they should’ve kept bott boot camp in multiplayer and knock off the regular slayer since it’s included in bot boot camp list and quick play list
If it was accidental I will be happy when it’s added back but if it was intentional I am done with Infinite for good. PVE is the way I like to play I shouldn’t be forced to play only PVP.
Bot Bootcamp was where i went to relax and recover but still play after getting completely and throughly trounce. As will as warm up after not being able to play for weeks at times due to work and things that needed to be done around the house. I really wish we had mode like warzone firefight.
I feel the same way if bot bootcamp is gone for good I’m done with Infinite I don’t really like PVP an now they’ve removed the only PVE mode multiplayer had.
What do you mean where did they hear this? Bot boot camp isn’t in the game anymore I know because I was expecting to play it when the update dropped but it’s gone.
Same here I expected to as well, I’m no longer a PVP fan for halo I got burned out of halo PVP so if bot boot camp is gone for good so am I, I’ll continue to play firefight in reach odst and halo 5 warzone infact I’m looking for players who also play warzone firefight so i can play concecutive matches
