Bot Bootcamp Leaving?

Cool. Hadn’t realised they had already changed things up a bit.

Has anyone been able to confirm this? If it were me, I would wait until there was a PvE mode. Oh well, I love Firefight. I will miss the higher frame rate in HI though.

If there’s no confirmation, at least you’ll find out for sure in less than a week.

It would be silly for them to remove it though because all of the work they put into the bots. Especially since there’s navmesh in forge.

I’m not concerned in the slightest.

Good points. I may play FF this week just to change it up. If BB is gone next week, I will just stick with FF.

Lesson learned is not to put time and money into game until you know for sure it is worth it. I trusted 343 would do FF or some good PvE. I did not go whale mode, but I did spend some money and spent time doing PvP to earn stuff that I wish I could have back.

I know it’s not FF, but online coop campaign sounds like it’ll be fun for a bit.

No doubt, but no XP for that. I am sure I will play the campaign and DLC if it comes.

that too, without frustration or annoying people around its a good way to practice skills, i got so much better with every weapon in this game mode but also you get to understand every map, where fights happen. where they come from and how objective playlists are happening

Same. I prefer it as it allows me to have a nice, chill game of Halo. I wish they’d expand it to allow for more BTB options

I just love it because it is the closest thing to PvE. I do like the chill, usually quick games.

There’s also certain challenges that can be completed in BB. So I usually do them there so I don’t have to worry about affecting a PvP game. Also the challenge is usually something brain-dead easy like get 5 kills with an AR.

I think Bot Bootcamps value shouldn’t be judged by the entire player base though. It’s not meant for everyone even a little bit. It’s an onboarding tool for new players.

The question shouldn’t be “what percentage of total players are queuing into Bot Bootcamp”?

The question should be “what percentage of new players with very little XB history in Halo games are queuing into Bot Bootcamp”?

The fact that BB impacts your MMR is bad design by 343. That should be corrected, not used as a reason to remove the playlist.

The playlist needs to be available for new players, full stop. There’s simply no other option imo

Probably, but it’s still a needs to be there for new/low skilled players. Although, it’s nature as a training naturally means players will “graduate” from the mode. Still I don’t see the harm in letting player experience new modes that are added to the game (Covert Slayer may or may not be in BB) in a stress-free environment.

True, however Challenges Slots are still a very real and very player-unfriendly thing. I usually use the bot to knock easy challenges out of the way so I can increase my RNG for the real ones.

Example: Get 5 kills with an AR isn’t a challenge in BB or PVP, however doing it in BB means I can at least do it in a chill environment without the risk of running into a 4-stack or something.

Basically, for me, the real challenge of the challenge system is learning how to do them in an efficient manner.

True, but it would probably be better to play with other randoms (like in a real match). Although I guess you could invite randoms to a CG.

That never should have been a thing to begin with.

You can still set up to play vs bots in academy? I think that is still a thing.

They are supposed to be at least a little bit challenging.

And someone pointed out that most of them are PvP only now anyway.

Meh. If you really are that junior - having random team mates is neither here nor there.

And you can still take your friends into customs / Forge.

It’s funny to imagine 343’s first meeting after this happened. “They did WHAT?”.

There will always be anomalies and loop holes in game development. Especially when players are always looking for ways to exploit them.

The only travesty was the misinformation it spread about ranking. It pretty much had zero affect on the other 99.999% of people playing the game. Especially after 343 dropped the MMR of the bots.

It is, but you can’t set up gamemodes. Forge/Customs fixes this, but you still don’t have the matchmaking aspect of getting paired with random teammates with skills you don’t know. Basically, it’s too controlled to simulate a real match.

Also BB lets new players learn the game and still progress the BP (minimally). Two birds, one stone.

You and I both know challenge slots exist to sell swaps, not to increase the difficulty.

If they really wanted challenge, they’d bring back Commendations or return to H3’s achievement based system or even have some VidMasters.

8 of the 21 challenges are “non-PvP”. I’m pretty sure it’s always been like that. So, it’s still a minority, but a considerable chunk regardless.

Perhaps, but it’s still good to learn how to play with other people you don’t know. As for friends, that’s assuming they’re online and willing to play Halo at the same time as you. Bot Bootcamp doesn’t have that restriction.

Yeah, that was (and still is) a mess.

In the grand scheme of things, I don’t think anyone will really mourn the loss of BB, but I think 343 has put too much time and effort into the bots to scrap them to just customs or backfill replacements.

Also BB has the least amount of desync, so that automatically makes it the best mode :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s very unfortunate, and disappointing, this game will never have a true PVE mode. Halo has fallen so far now from where it could’ve, and should’ve been.

If Microsoft cared at all bout this game, they would announce a whole new Halo title, and chalk Halo Infinite up to a learning experience.

Sadly though, it seems the only disappointment Microsoft feels with Halo Infinite is that it’s not making enough profit, there is never a mention from Microsoft about all the game breaking problems, they don’t know what a good product is anymore, there is only profitable and not as profitable, even though it’s still profitable, but I think they were hoping for something more like Pokemon kinda profit.

If this was any other product, it would most likely be recalled, and taken off the market, the percentage of people experiencing major problems is too high.

If they do end up removing Bot Bootcamp, I assume it’s because they need to make room for something else. Personally, I feel like Halo Infinite is more like a cheap Mobile game than a full-fledged console game, and it makes me wonder, is that what they were striving for all along, did they figure mobile platforms had the biggest profit potential.

The way 343 and Microsoft are doing business with this game, something doesn’t add up. Microsoft’s flagship game and a year after release, it feels like it’s on life support, and people in a boardroom are ready to pull the plug.

Oh thank god. It’s about time this “shoot fish in a barrel” playlist went away. It never deserved to take up one of the limited slots they have for MP. This mode should have always been only custom game feature.

For anyone who compares this to PvE…get some standards. BB is not PvE. Not even close.

For anyone who enjoys this mode. You will have more fun recreating this in customs where you can pick any map, the number of bots, and game modes. You can do 1V20. Do it. This is overall a better option for yall than what BB is now.

But Ima have beer to celebrate this thing getting taken off. Now we’ve just got to wait for network issues to get fixed

I doubt the bot playlist will be removed. It’s fun, doesn’t hurt anyone, they already sunk a ton of work into it and even allow you to setup bots in Forge, and it furthers AI research in general. It would be nonsensical to remove it.

You have a job? Neat. Contrary to pop culture jokes, gamers have always held jobs on top of having families, social lives, etc. Having responsibility is nothing new and it does not make anyone special. Why do ya’ll even bring these things up so much?

A) they also said we’d have split screen campaign.
B) we were promised a working game.
C) If a player leaves, they are replaced with a bot, you get XP after that match, technically.
D) you were able to earn XP before, during, and after launch. They have already honored the “promise” they made. Plus, if you have played the game at all, you have signed a TOS where you agreed that 343i can make any changes they want and that you won’t pursue legal action against them. At least talk to a lawyer before giving empty warnings.

Source? Can’t find an article, blog post, video, or interview with this so called “promise” being made.

I would much rather have a true PvE, but this is the closest thing they have. To the people saying “just play customs”; you do not get XP for that. You do not meet new people. You do not get the fun randomness of different games, ect. Bot Bootcamp is not great for me personally, but until there is FF, it works.

I just want PvE modes where I can, progress, earn cosmetics, and play as my Spartan. From what I can see, I am not even close to being the only one.

If 343 is going full esports/PvP, I wish they would have communicated that. I would not have spent time and money on the game. It is on me. I should have waited for a PvE mode. I made a big mistake in trusting them. I will not make it again.
