To be perfectly honest the entire situation had me discouraged to continue playing and as a result I’ve taken quite a long hiatus. Only recently have I re-visited do to the “reset”, but to be perfectly blunt… after having read over the patch notes 343i hasn’t truly addressed the core crux of the issue.
They reset MMR and Ranks, but no major changes have occurred; aside from certain measures being put in place to evaluate the game internally to better diagnose the problem. Funny, considering they simultaneously tried deflecting any sort of responsibility in a recent address stating that these issues (desync, matchmaking etc) are common amongst other games and gave an incredibly long winded filibuster of a explanation as to why it even occurs as if to absolve themselves of their short comings and convince the player base it’s normal to experience such latency so consistently.
Anyway, I’m rambling… and about an issue entirely different from what this post was intended. As a final thought, I’d like to say accountability isn’t being upheld and 343i has shown time and time again that they’re tone deaf to the wants of the Halo fanbase. Notice how I say Halo Fanbase, not theirs. They’re a group of individuals standing on the shoulders of giants who’ve come before them and they’re tarnishing that legacy. Multi-Million dollar company (343i) backed by a Multi-Billion dollar company (Microsoft) with 6 years of prep time and this is what we get?
Hard for me to take the excuses seriously.
343 thinking the Social MMR affecting your placement in ranked should be allowed is mind boggling. Bot Bootcamp affecting MMR is next level. I saw halotracker links showing new accounts that were made to test this theory and it was confirmed. All games were playing in Bot Bootcamp with high KDA like yours and after going into ranked, they only faced high level onyx players because the “trueskill” system thinks your better than you are. Meanwhile, you’re playing bots LOL
so this still isn’t fixed?
Fixed?
343 doesn’t think it’s broken.
༼ づ ಠ_ಠ ༽づ Summon Collision
Everyday 343 strays further from the player’s light.
Do bots still affect mmr or what ??
Did they fix this yet or do bots still affect mmr
Did they fix the mmr with against bots yet or not because I have put it against 7 Spartan bots everyday for br snipes to warm up to a hundred FFA I absolutely wreck them like I hit a 100 and second place is 50 I have tons of overkill’s and demon metals ect . Problem is when I play ranked I play against other really good players which is fine but my teams mates literally can’t hang they are onxy. But it it is very obvious when I’m in the group it’s pulling much better player … so is the bot mmr thing fixed or still works this way ?
Some people seem to think the social/bot thing has enough influence on your mmr to affect match-making. There is some common data shared between the different playlist MMR’s.
Other’s haven’t found a lot of change.
As opposed, of course, to the one-off effect on a new account when you go into ranking for the first time - and it seeds rank with your bot MMR because that is the only data it has at the time.
Looking at your HaloTracker you’ve had a few days where you have started off with a solid run of wins. Were any of those post bots? Or just the other ones…
I imagine most of the problem with your friends is that you are attracting the stronger players (you are a high Diamond who has previously been Onyx).
What you need to do is try a few days playing with your friends but without warming up on bots - and see if it makes any discernible difference.
You keep spouting off about how bot matches don’t affect much once you’ve completed your placement matches.
Yet I can go in and play 2 bot matches, purposely get 0 kills and 10 (or more) deaths, and I will face easier opponents in my next ranked match. My friend and I have tested this with over 500 games played.
Because of the shared MMR, this kind of thing is happening all over the place with people playing things like Fiesta and Tactical Slayer. Game modes that are much more random or where they might play better/worse than normal. And it’s screwing with their MMR in ranked.
I think this is part of the reason that the rankings are all over the place, especially in the Diamond tier. I can play against Diamond players in one game that play like Silver or Gold players. And then in the next game play against Diamond players that play like they are Onyx 1600 players.
no idea man, I don’t play Infinite, i’m playing Elden ring, a real video game. When I want to play “Halo” I play MCC, mostly H3
Here’s a well written post that showcases the issues discussed here in detail: https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/sjcg8u/its_official_matchmaking_is_broken_social_games/
This post had been featured in many YouTube videos in early February; regarding the changes implemented in February 22 (Rank Reset). I’ve known about this myself for quite sometime and thought that I’d share, sorry I hadn’t mentioned it sooner. Should make for a good read to those interested.
This post and the classic ‘botcamp’ one both show that TrueSkill2 uses a seeding MMR when you enter a new playlist. If you take a brand new account into ranked for the first time it will assume your MMR from another playlist (if you have one).
It’s an expected behaviour of TrueSkill.
It makes sense when going into a new ranked playlist. If you are high Diamond in Ranked Slayer then it is a safe assumption that you will be around that mark in Ranked Snipers, etc.
But of course it doesn’t make quite as much sense going from Social to Ranked, and is definitely absurd going from Bots to Ranked.
But then we have the second part of the post. Which tries to claim that the influences are similar post placement. Clearly they are not. You are not seeding the playlist with an old MMR anymore. You just have whatever shared MMR data have between each other (we don’t know exactly what).
The post describes just two games. Hardly a data set. Why not more? Probably because the match-making quickly brought them back into line. Were those two games due to the shared MMR data or just chance?
Plenty of people have described both situations. My personal experience is that I can muck around as much as I like in Social (weekly get together with mates for about 3 hours) and pretty much nothing happens when I go back into ranked the next day.
I imagine what the poster was describing was due to the freshness of their account. Their MMR curve was still wide and volatile. Match-making in this case can be a bit adventurous. Plus they were deliberately playing good / bad and feeding the algorithm poor data. No wonder it may have been a bit over the place.
A more mature account, with consistent play, will have a tall, narrow MMR curve. It is not going to shift much on the whims of a good (or bad) game here or there. And I really doubt it will do much after a few rigged games in Social.
