Bot Bootcamp affected my MMR in PvP

I’m wondering if this is why my Unranked matches were so unpleasant, cause I matched against Onyx players and I could barely help my team. Then, somehow it places me in Platinum, which is fine cause I can perform against those players.

Most probably think it’s just normal (and who knows, maybe it is), because they are just placement matches.

How could a competent studio think this is a good idea?

Consider this. Either they didn’t think about it and connect the dots or they did think about it and thought this was OK.

Either way…WOW.

This is a big problem and needs to be fixed asap

This totally makes sense if you’ve read about TrueSkill2. Your MMR is influenced by other playlists, you can read all about it here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/publication/trueskill-2-improved-bayesian-skill-rating-system/

I get the idea, but personally I think it’s a dumb decision. I mean, even if Bot Bootcamp were exempt, why if you are good at objective gametypes would that have anything to do with your skill in Swat?

It definitely should be disabled for Bot Bootcamp, but it looks like it’s not. Good job 343. Fix this.

Wow sorry to hear you’ve had such a bad experience. They really need to remove mmr… We dont need ranked gameplay all the time. Hope they see this post, at the very minimum bot games shouldnt affect it.

I think hidden mmr genuinely needs removing from Social playlists or people will leave Halo on a massive scale. :frowning:

Figured I’d seen it all. MMR needs to be in the game but bots come on. This game is just one oversight after another.

This would have to be one of the most ridiculous things I’ve heard regarding gaming in general.

Couple that with the rest of the bugs and its almost like the devs intentionally set out to tank their own game.

I’m not sure which is worse, the ranking system or the matchmaking system. They are both broken.

Amazing game, but keep buying on the shop to support them, see how much they work hard.

If true, it explains some of my own experiences.

Not to be overly negative, but has anyone worked on matchmaking since Josh Menke left a year ago or did he set it on autopilot and the studio thinks someone is still flying the plane?

This will be fun if true for me lol. I do Bot Bootcamp when I want to play, but don’t want to stress it lol.

This explains a lot. 343 is so dumb lol.

they need to stop letting the janitor design the matchmaking system

Yea, we’ve known about this for almost 2 months now lol

Dude, thanks for this. With this it’s pretty damn clear that is exactly what happened. … I guess you should just do the opposite now. Tank your rating in boot bootcamp (join game, and just go AFK).

The whole system is f’d.

Damn that would be even more broken dude. It’s unbelievable that bot bootcamp affects your overall mmr across the game. If they want mmr for bot boot camp to elevate the bot level then that’s fine, but each playlist should be independent.

That’s next level!!! and I’m kinda nervous it would work.

It would. That’s how TrueSkill 2 is designed. Easiest fix would just be to disable MMR for Bot Bootcamp.

The most simple explanation is that it’s an oversight that wasn’t noticeable in a small environment that is QA.
