Finished GOW on GMGOW Mode via my 1st playthrough. Sigrun (Valkyrie Queen) killed me at least a billion times! These bosses are nowhere near as difficult as Sigrun.
That last part you said is everything. There’s a reason why they allow you to suit up with whatever weapons you want, and vehicles!
The boss fights in this game generally revolve around shooting them with high-damage power weapons + grenades or stun-locking them until they die whilst simultaneously running away or taking quick pot shots at them (that “shoot & hide” CoD-type playstyle) lest you be killed by their overpowered weapons or one-shot abilities, like how Bassus or Escharum are able to lunge at you like a heat-seeking missile from across the room at such an extremely high speed and destroy you before you are able to react to their attack.
Just throw noob cubes at them. Agree about the instakilling part though
I disagree. Most of these fights have ways to avoid the boss built into the area. I think these fights are built in a way to make you think about what weapons you have on you, how much ammo you can conserve, as well as what is around you that can assist you in the fight. In this way, these bosses feel like wierd training for multiplayer in the sense that they teach you to be constantly keeping track of the area around you, and how to move through that area while manipulating with items, weapons, and abilities to be beneficial to you. I didn’t remember I could grapple power coils until I fought a boss on legendary, and accidentally grappled one trying to escape. Point is, while spongey, they DO provide challenge in a meaningful way, just not in a necessarily satisfying way.
You said it brother !! Cortana: The wraiths are the problem - Me: No, I’m heading for the jackal snipers
I have, while a bit of the exploit damage was patched out by the devs which sucks… it still requires good timing since he can still turn around and block the explosions so the best source of reliable damage is still waiting for the green light to stun him a bit…
I am not a fan of this stop and go dark souls style combat in FPSs because it slows the pace down tremendously… you could argue that it works better for 1v1 (aka bosses), which is why I thought the giant baron with the shield was a bit more decent as a boss because he had more patterns and ways to damage him consistently…
In the defense of everyone that likes the Marauder tho, I personally detest it and so there isn’t a single person on this planet that won’t convince me he is a good enemy for an FPS…
I’m honestly convinced 343 doesn’t play test a damn thing. Bosses are some of the most obnoxious game design I’ve seen. Why yes, I would like to be one shot by a jittery gorilla without warning. No, please I insist.
Arenas are designed poorly, the opponent is a damage sponge, you can’t prepare for it without a guide or resetting.
I swear I’ll never understand this obsession these people have designing encounters like this.
I gotta agree here. I didn’t even find the bosses that difficult tbh but man oh man was I wishing I had a better weapon. It felt like I was trying to kill some of these bosses with a nerf gun
Update on the gorilla with the hammer.
You can grapple shot over the door ways and spam him with guns. He can’t melee but he can throw grenades. Jump once thrown, he may drop the grenade while opening fire giving you an extra bit of damage. Swing to the next door frame. Rinse and repeat.
So instead of fighting a mighty battle I just spammed grenades and needler while Chief does his best Spider-Man impression.
“What are you doing up there?”
“Staying away from you” -Master Chief versus Bassilus…, probably
Well to trash Halo Infinite bosses is a bit like trashing it for being too open… Yes its bosses are not perfect but they are miles ahead of all the garbage we’ve had in Halo for years.
I feel that most of the frustration just comes down to everything being done on solo, a lot of these bosses would be far less annoying/cheap in a Co-op setting. The elite bosses in particular are awful in my opinion because the system for switching equipment is tedious and cumbersome and basically worthless for console players due to how you have to memorize specific D-pad combinations, these bosses would be grand if they didn’t require luck and instead required skill.
I just think that the sandbox and player abilities makes it hard to craft something grand in Infinite, especially in the open world. Basically every enemy needs tons of health otherwise you can destroy it with a weapon variant.
This reply is right on the money
The first boss I was crapping myself, the second one well lets just say I got a fusion coil and he used his gun and killed me everytime this is on legendary

Update: the bosses do seem to get better as you go on. Not a ton more variety in what they do or how to fight them, it mostly comes down to them having particular weapons and Equipment based abilities. But some feel less like tedious bullet sponges and more like something you have to outfight.
This is improved also by upgrading your armor etc. getting shielding buffs make fights feel less frustrating and cheesy
Most of them can be cheesed with a needler.
Understanding how to kite them around the arena makes it much easier as well.
They’re better than what we’ve had in the past, but not amazing either.
