While playing warzone I’ve come to notice that I can get a boss’s health down so low and do so much damage to it but somewhow, the enemy team still gets the kill. Wtf?
I suppose it’s who gets the last significant damage!
I wish instead of who gets the last shot, it would be, who dealt the most damage to said boss, that would make more sense, right?

THIS. I honestly hate the way the boss takedowns work in H5. You can take out almost all of a bosses health only to have the kill stolen by an enemy or your teammates who just quickly spam the boss with a few shots before its death. I agree with OP, wish the takedown was awarded to whoever dealt the most damage.
343 should actually fix this ASAP because it makes warzone incredibly infuriating when you’ve put in so much effort and spent so much time on taking out a boss, only to have it stolen from you.
Who gets the boss takedown is really random. I’ve joined a game in progress before to get a boss takedown 5 seconds after I joined, while still in my armory, not firing a single shot.
I think if it was most damage it would actually be unfair. Because if the opposing team manages to take out the Spartans attacking the boss initially and then finishes up the boss they don’t get the points!

Having the current system now is the most balanced way as it is. If they wanted to use OPs method than its useless as one team would do more than 50% dmg and after that theres no point for the other team to bother with the boss. Last hitting the boss as it stands is the best way since sometimes we steal bosses and other times we let it get stolen. Its a win-win situation
It is essentially the same as everywhere else but seems unfair due to the scale. I think its fine, you just have to account for it in your playing

Not really. Then you would just have to do 51% of the damage and leave the boss alone. What’s the fun in that?
The system is fine as is imo
The system got balanced in a previous update so that basically any member of the team who gets the kill, that dealt damage, will get the medal. As far as which team that is it’s basically about who can steal it better. Most bosses have a way of stealing them like railgunning/lasering a banshee, splinter nading a knight etc. wardens are the worst imo because they are such bullet sponges it can be hard to time it
Yeah unfortunately right now the system it uses promotes boss stealing, just waiting to hit the last shot with something heavy…
Based on personal observations it isn’t based exclusively on the last shot. If I were to guess there is some type of damage threshhold in play (although, it isn’t a very big one). Once you meet it you’re in the running for the kill. It also seems to behave differently depending on whether you’re competing against your own team or the enemy team. It’s possible I’m wrong and it’s simply due to lag related issues though.
To make matters more confusing, different bosses behave differently. Rok is a prime example, where you must keep hitting him while he is exploding to get the last hit.
I think it has to do with hitting key weak spots on the boss right before death. Bosses have places that are weaker than others… example a hunters back… hit the weak spots before death to get the kill.
A way they could make it more balanced would be to do it based off of damaged done. And dive it up. So if Red Team does 75% damage and Blue team does 25% damage. Red Team gets 75% of the points, and Blue team gets 25% of the points.

I’m not the only one that’s happened to. I’m glad lol

You have to aim for the weak parts on the boss in order to kill it faster and get the actual kill.
