Boss Fights are, once again, the least enjoyable part of the game

Still not a huge fan of boss fights in Halo, and Infinite once again cements it. Every time they try to do it the end result is enemies with way too much Health doing triple damage with whatever gun they are holding.

The only boss fight I’ve enjoyed so far was the Monitor, because of the weak point system and how his damage seemed comparable to other enemies I’ve fought up to this point.

But most of these boss fights just suck. Trying to dodge one hit kills and keep your damage consistent so they don’t get their massive shields back is a chore. And some of those one hit kill attacks honestly feel unreactable at times.

Played through on Heroic, actually really enjoyed all the boss fights. The way they were set up, they throw a curve ball in gameplay forcing you to play differently due to their unique behavior. Granted, I lost a lot of fights on some of them, but that was part of the learning process, developing muscle memory and a strategy that will beat them, and then feeling satisfied when it pays off.

In most of them I found the skill of quickly switching between gear to be a key advantage which once you become proficient at, makes the boss fights more managable while also increasing your flexibility in combat in non boss situations as well, making you feel like a baddass. Another key is to keep the pressure on. They will not let up, so you should not let up either. It’s a trial of endurance between a tirable human and a tireless bot with a health bar.

In my case the second last fight was a real challenge but I really enjoyed the intensity of it. It was the hardest I had to work. Conversely, the battle with the monitor I beat in 1 try and found the least memorable

So maybe different strokes for different folks? I was a big fan of the gladiator fights in Assassins creed origins as well because they broke up the combat in a similar way that you were not accustomed to and I grinded the poop out of them all until I finally won, on the highest difficulty as well. So maybe I am more masochist or something xD

Spartan Killers are definitely a very big pain to fight, especially in harder difficulties, but most of the bosses I can just run over with a ghost or snipe from a distance. Really not a big issue imo. Load up a Razorback with Sniper/SPNKr Marines, and bring them to any outdoor bosses you can. When we eventually get co-op, it’ll be pretty easy to take down bosses, even on Legendary, since you will have multiple people to distract their focus. Best I can say is, take advantage of the maxed abilities, based on your fight preference. Thruster cloaking is pretty powerful, but I’m addicted to Grapple EMP slamming.

The only boss fights I would ever consider good in halo would be the scarab fights in H3. Everything else has been more annoying than fun.
“What can we do to make bosses tougher? Have it kill you in one shot, but take 5,000 consecutive shots for you to take it down” - Every developer ever

Destiny Nightfall Strikes tbh
Destiny players are probably pretty comfy with Infinite since it’s borderline Destiny 3
Shame we can’t just summon a gunless ghost wherever we want. Would make hours of walking in pure empty landscape much easier. Maybe we can buy that feature as a DLC for a $99.99 purchase

I said this before in a similar thread and will say it again here:

The boss fights in this game generally revolve around shooting them with high-damage power weapons + grenades or stun-locking them until they die whilst simultaneously running away or taking quick pot shots at them (that “shoot & hide” playstyle) lest you be killed by their overpowered weapons or one-shot abilities.

Characters like Bassus or Escharum with their gravity hammers are able to lunge towards you like a heat-seeking missile from all the way across the room, moving at such an extremely high speed, and thus they are able to destroy you in one fell swoop before you even have time to react to their attack or dodge out of their explosion radius.

For myself, the bosses are really not satisfying to overcome in this game. No boss that has defeated me has ever been able to do it more than once or twice on Heroic because I have become accustomed to that playstyle I mentioned before and has managed to work quite well for all of them. Now I really don’t expect Legendary to be so much harder; it’s just that exploiting these boss battles with this playstyle becomes even more imperative.
