Wtf, really, wtf… :S
Playing on BTB playlist for the first time today and oh my god, the people are pure trash there.
It wouldn’t be much of a problem, if the freaking booting system was working… It’s pure yoink right now. I got booted twice for accidental betrayals, and in my last game I had to wait for the 4th time some idiot shot me down at our base until he was booted. WTF. I also couldn’t boot another guy who did the same after I got in the driver seat of a vehicle.
Of course, no one is going to fix anything in Halo Reach anymore, but wth. How do people manage to enjoy BTB like this? I’ve had like 3 very cool games, and 10 games of pure -Yoink- and frustration. Where do all these limited kiddos come from anyway? :\
The betrayal booting system works like karma.
The more times you’ve betrayed people, the less chance you’ll have to kick someone when you’re betrayed.

Solution? Stop betraying people yourself, the banhammer can’t tell the difference between intentional & accidental betrayals.
Do you know if it also takes into account how much games/kills you have in the time you made those betrayals? Because I’ve been playing insanely much lately, and that’s a problem with leaving games for instance (it thinks I quit often while I rarely quit but just play on and on …).
Not really much I can do to change it, I’ve done 2 intentional betrayals (guy that was running over my entire team), the rest is all people jumping in front of my ghost/warthog/rocket/sniper/sticky.
I would love to have an option to send a short clip to whoever would be in control, to prove jackassery when people just get into the game and start shooting teammates right away. It still pisses me off that the one guy betrayed me 4 times (also betrayed others, dunno how much though) – the game was instantly ruined, enemy team got in total control and was on like 40 kills by the time he was finally booted.
Such a person should be just banned from xbl altogether imo.
I hate it in Invasion. I’ve gotten booted several times because my teammates decide that when I throw a grenade at the enemy they should run at them and die with them, then instantly blame me for their stupidity.

Nope, it simply takes into account the ‘karma’ system I explained.

There is no one who manages this feature, it is completely automated.
Spartan Ace i have cut and pasted this from a previous response to someone else but added to Moa’s response above this one goes into a little more detail.
The whole betrayal system in Reach is stuffed but if you read and understand the below it might save you a little.
It basically works on a Karma System that flows across your games. If you could imagine a meter that keeps getting a little added to it everytime you do a player in your team any damage once that meter hits 100% any betrayal after that point will result in the betrayed teammate being given the option to boot. Now when I say damage to a team mate it can be anything from a direct shot to some splash damage from a grenade or rocket or even clipping them with a vehicle. So basically you are going to have to be a little more careful with what you do in a game.
There are other factors to consider as well. If you get damage from a team mate then that can wind your meter back down a little and if you always boot someone when given the option to boot and not forgive the more likely anyone you betray will be given the the boot option first time you betray them as well.
So if some peanut betrays you for a a power weapon or what ever reason dont shoot back at them because it is less likely that you will be given a boot screen if they do it again and more likely they will be given one if you betray them later in the game. I just follow them around and stand in front of them and they cant resist the chance to betray me again. Dropping a grenade at your feet to drop your own shields and then run in front of them to get them to shoot you once works a treat a well. Also next time you are betrayed think “was that on purpose or by accident” and make the correct call. The more times you forgive a player the more likely you are presented with the boot option when you are betrayed.
Wow, thanks for the information guys.
Thing that might have made it worse, I’ve been playing with two guys who play very much ‘rushing in / suicidal maniac’ style, while I play very defensive. So they often get splash from my grenades or a few assault rifle bullets, and I almost never get theirs.
I literally always forgive unintentional betrayals. So not much I can change there.
Being more careful not to hit the forward rushing teammates is something I have to work on anyway, so that might help a bit.
And Moa, duh at #2
I meant just any fictional guy at 343i that would receive such clips and ban the abusive person. Just a little ‘i wish’ that has never and will never happen(ed).
People betray me over and over and I dont get the boot option but when I betray them for betraying me I get booted. In the end, its totally worth being booted so I dont have to play with those annoying people.
That’s maybe an ok solution. But I’ve been told that being booted counts towards quitbans (and I’m having trouble with those), so I don’t know what to do anymore. I can’t boot them and I can’t betray them back or leave because I’ll get a quitban.
So much fun to stick out a game of BTB where 1 or 2 idiots on your team just start betraying from the first second. Awesome. =’[
Ever since the Reach beta I’ve been arguing for a simple Betrayal = Boot option system.
You think that’s bad? Play grifball, and sometime you will encounter a couple of guys on your team who spawntrap and kill you. I couldn’t quit because I did 2 challenges in said game, and didn’t want to lose credits. Plus, grifball yields the most credits, and I was trying to get major. (Yes, I am a low rank. Almost Major grade 1 at time of post) There is no booting there. But seriously, when that guy in a wraith hits boost when you walk in front of him holding a fuel rod and he’s on your team. Or when 2 guys try to kill you over a plasma pistol. Some people are annoying. Fortunately, I rarely betray, and only by accident, and I try to slow down if I see a teammate in my way, so I can boot these guys instantly.
