BOOTHAPPY JERKS

So here I go on hemorrage in a revenant racking up some kills for my team, and im leading in the kills feeling pretty good about myself. Then all of the sudden one of my teammates decides to jetpack right in front of me. I hit him, he dies, and then I get booted? I don’t know how that happens when it was clearly an accident but when some as****e decides to shoot me in the head with a DMR and beat me to death, I can’t boot him. That’s messed up. Especially because it was an accident on my part and I got the ten minute “quitters ban” for falsely being booted. Anything like this happen to anyone else? Anyone think they should be reimbursed the credits?

Yesterday my friend Availingtech9 was on a 11 killstreak on Hemmorrage in a revenant and splattered a teammate who was trying to get betrayed, and got booted. And he is really mad.

It happens for everybody, we can just hope that the booting system will work better in Halo 4.

lol getting mad on an 11 kill spree.

@OP. You shouldn’t have betrayed him if you didn’t want to get booted.

I thought I heard that friendly fire will be disabled by default in Halo 4 so the booting, griefing, and power weapon stealing problems should be fixed.

Friendly fire was off just for E3. 343i has not confirmed anything about the game when it’s realeased.

The betrayal system works as a karma system. Stop doing damage to teammates and you won’t be getting booted first time.

I was playing a round of Snipers on Countdown for some unknown reason (maybe cause I did amazing at BTB Snipers on Spire the match before.) And I was lining up this shot on a enemy and a split second before I fire a Teammate decides to go up behind my enemy for an assassination (I couldn’t see the Teammate’s relative location only his Waypoint. I then fire at the start of the assassination I watched the video later and apparently it right for the enemies head but because the assassination animation started, my teammates head moved into the Sniper’s path and got a direct headshot betrayal and not even a second goes by and I’m booted even though it was clearly an accident.

I was driving a Wraith and someone just so happen to jump off the platform and right in front of me and I can’t stop the Wraith quickly enough and I ACCIDENTALLY splattered him and I got booted for an accident. People have mics sitting there, why not use it and warn somebody before they go jumping off a platform in front of a speeding Wraith. Nobody even uses a mic anymore…

ikr i totally understand, i was playign snipers one day and my teamate jumped in front of me on purpose trying to get me to accidentally betray him and i did then i was booted away from my perfection (i had 13 kills 0 deaths and the game had 5 minutes left)

Don’t betray, simple solution.

And don’t go claiming it’s only accidental betrayals. To get booted on your first betrayal in a game, you have to have a record of betraying often. Accidental betrayals don’t happen often enough to warrant 1 betrayal boots.

If they really do, you should get booted. Maybe then you will learn to be more careful.

It hasn’t been based on damage since long before Bungie left.

It’s back to the Halo 3 betrayal record system.

Source? If that’s true, then I’ve been misleading people for quite some time. :\

You would have to dig through Acrhonos posts. Might have even been in the optimatch forum.

Apparently, a 343 employee claimed it was the damage based system but I have seen absolutely no evidence to support that.

Must’ve been in Optimatch, as going through his post history hasn’t revealed anything about betrayals that I can find. Shame. :frowning:

Or how about the times when you’re first to the sniper on hemorrhage and some guy decides to chase you around the map, chucking nades and peppering your shields with his AR so you can’t get a single shot off at the enemy. You then get pissed and snipe the d*** in the face and get booted a second later… oh well… Guess it’s what makes the game so interesting (and it’s super satisfying to snipe his face in)

Availingtech9 i am sure That Guerilla is quaking in his boots now. Before you show your ignorance and flame other forum members you should of quickly looked at his service record and seen that he has in fact 48 Unfrigs. So i guess you could say he has had a few 11 kill streaks. If you dont want to get booted for betrayals then stop running over team mates and if you do maybe try apologising and they might just not boot you.

Whoa, wait a minute. Okay, so lemme get this straight.

Me and my friends like to betray each other now and then just for the hell of it (You stole my kill/weapon/whatever) when we’re doing well (or hopelessly behind) in team games.

I rarely betray anyone who would care intentionally. And when I do, it’s usually because they’ve been griefing the hell out of me.

You mean to tell me my friendly betrayals against friends who don’t care is the reason I’m being instabooted for just about every accidental betrayal?

Well, -Yoink-, I wish I’d known that sooner…

Back on topic, the issue is you never get the chance to apologize. It’s like an automatic response for seemingly 90% of the population to hit X when betrayed. And before someone says, ‘Well, don’t you do it, too?’ I actually don’t. I only boot when seriously provoked. If you frag me, I’m a hell of a lot more charitable than most people.

Sometimes I wish I had a headset so I can appoligize if I betray on accident.

Also, if I was betrayed and could boot an ally for a betrayal, I generally press B to forgive unless it was the second time after forgiving in one game that I was betrayed by the same ally or if I’m in a bad mood.

I believe the host cant be booted at all as well. also yes sometimes you will get booted for complete accidents. i think the system needs to somehow recognize if there was a enemy in the area or not to determine if the boot option should appear.
