Booted from Xbox live. "Credit limit reached"

As I play Halo Reach that I have downloaded to my external USB it will let me play one game. Then I try to start another game of slayer or whatever game type I want and it boots me out of XBL and tells me my credit limit is reached even though its not. It has been doing this for a couple weeks and it is very annoying because I know that I am n where near the actual limit. And ideas of what I can do? I called XBL support and they told me to post on here haha. Let me know!

Wait, you get a notification stating that you’ve been disconnected from Xbox Live? Or is another notification?

Welcome to Waypoint, by the way!

Ya, im in the middle of a game and it boots me out to lobby and out of XBL, after a notification that pops up.

Sounds like an internet/Xbox-related problem, and not one related to having Reach on your USB drive.

MS Support can be so useless sometimes.

Also, I would recommend having your Reach content downloaded on your HDD rather than a USB, but that’s just me.

I’ve hit the credit limit many, many dozens of times and have never been booted. You can still play without getting credits. So you have issues not related to XBL, but most likely related to the fact you’re using an external drive.

If you disconnect from an Xbox Live game due to your connection cutting out, your console assumes everybody else quit out, and gives you credits for the game. However since your profile is technically offline, you only receive 1,000 of said credits before reaching your offline credit limit.

The credit-limit problem has nothing to do with USB/external hard drive etc, this will always happen if you disconnect mid-game. As for the actual disconnection reason, I have no clue sorry, you may have installed Reach to a faulty USB.

This could also be a HD problem, I had to replace my 250gig recently and I was having the same issues.

I’m having the same issue now for the past 2 months. Is there a solution for this?

I’ve already done the following:

  • changed xbox live password (twice)
  • redownloaded xbl account to xbox (twice)
  • deleted the installation of halo reach on the xbox and re-installed
  • played campaign mode (twice), FYI i never play campaign mode, ive only actually played campaign mode twice since buying the game.

Now, I’m getting banned from matchmaking because I get disconnected mid-game.

I had this problem awhile back but it was due to crack in my disc. Check your disc over and if there is no crack in it then just dust it off.

your might have ranked up several of your comendations but you didn’t noticed sometimes it’ll glitch up and not show you which comendations you ranked up but still give you the credits i know that the credit limit for 1 day is 2,000 cR. if I remember correctly there might be a weekly cR limit as well.

You just got a temporary ban, it lasts for 10 minutes and when your allowed to go bakc in matchmaking if you quit another game it will ban you for 10 minutes again. all you need to do is not quit or get disconnected for a week or two.

Also a disconnection and boot count as a quit.

one other thing that might be a problem is that Halo Reach is downloaded on to an external hard drive.
